I recently visited this Michelin-starred Chinese fine dining restaurant with high expectations, and while the experience was visually impressive, the flavors fell short of the prestige.
The food presentation was undoubtedly creative — every dish arrived like a piece of art, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and modern plating techniques. However, despite the elegant appearance, many of the dishes lacked depth and the bold, layered flavors that define great Chinese cuisine. The seasoning felt muted, and the balance that should elevate each bite was missing.
On the brighter side, the service was warm and professional. Both the waiter and chef were friendly and passionate, taking time to explain each course and ensuring guests felt welcomed.
The ambiance was luxurious and serene, suitable for a fine dining setting. Unfortunately, given the Michelin status and premium pricing, the overall experience didn’t quite meet expectations in terms of taste and value. While it’s worth visiting once for the presentation and service, I left wishing the flavors matched the artistry on the plate. Read moreBackground Ling Long in Kuala Lumpur aims to reimagine Chinese cuisine through a fusion-tasting menu that blends traditional flavours with modern techniques.
Ambience Despite its sleek design, the atmosphere feels sterile and somewhat detached, offering little warmth or character beyond its luxury aesthetic.
Service Service is competent but fails to meet the expectations set by the restaurant’s price point. While staff are efficient and attentive to the basics, the overall experience lacks the finesse and attentiveness that would elevate it to a truly memorable fine-dining standard.
Food/Drink The tasting menu impresses with its bold flavours and thoughtful fusion of Chinese and modern influences. Each dish is well-executed, showcasing balance and creativity. However, while the food tantalises the palate, it does little to justify the steep pricing.
Overall Ling Long delivers a good fusion Chinese dining experience with flavorful food that pushes boundaries. However, it struggles to justify its luxury positioning with an uninspired ambience and service that doesn’t quite match the...
Read moreGood space & setup with full privacy. Attentive floor staff with politeness. Reasonable price of 3-course & 4-course meal. Came here for lunch. Love the food here. All made from the stretch. Beancurb skin was super duper fresh & crispy. The marble goby fish was special, ate with the scale that made so crispy & fresh on the meat except for the sauce which I find it sweet & not going well with the fish.
The somen with A5 wagyu was a good mix, the texture of chicken was killing & appetising, the onzen egg was captivating. Last but not least the sourdough bread was fantastic, I had 2 serving cos I could not get my mouth out of it. Soft, warm & good taste.
Given me a memorable lunch.
Will return again when they...
