Food - I had pulled beef benedict for brunch, it was really really delicious. The beef tasted juicy and flavourful, the poached eggs were perfectly runny when I cut through them. Portion was just nice, I felt full and completely satisfied with the meal. I also shared garlic bread and sweet potato fries with my friends. You can taste its freshness, would really recommend for snacks/appetizer for sharing. The pancake (apom terbalik) was alright, not my favourite and wouldn't order again just because I'm not a fan of its slightly chewy texture. In terms of presentation, of course it looks amazing but what's most important is that the taste is amazing.
Price - I'd say the price is a bit above average for me, but maybe it's because it ties in with other elements like the location of the restaurant. However, I'm extremely satisfied with the whole dining experience and I get what I paid for.
Service - Since we went on a Saturday, there was a waiting time to get us all inside (we're a group of 9 people). Reservations can't be done on weekends btw. The waiting time was quite breezy as they made sure we're well seated and comfortable upstairs. Waiters were friendly and easy to talk to. They're totally fine with us refilling plain water that they serve for free.
Parking - I went there on Saturday around 11am. Parking was easy to find but there was a bit of a queue to go in. It's a compound parking area and yeah.. very expensive. I parked for 3 hours and had to pay RM11. In front of Plaza Batai is a residential area and its impossible to park there bcs there were traffic cones. Not quite sure other car park alternatives nearby. So I recommend you to carpool and split up on parking fee for convenience.
Ambience - I really like the ambience, it's not noisy, feels comfortable. It's a great place to catch up and have a nice conversation with your friends. The deco is simple, there are some house plants like pothos; very nice to look at.
Overall - Honestly, I came in without much expectations that the food will be good because I thought it's just another instagrammable place to eat. But the food quality for this one is an exception. I highly recommend you to try the pulled beef benedict bcs I genuinely think it's a worthy dining experience. Will definitely bring my...
Read moreYou came here for reviews and suggestions on what to order. Okay, we came in as a party of 4 adults, 1 kid and 1 baby. On sharing basis (to try a variety of things), we ordered:
YBR Fish & Chips. It's fried British style and they used tilapia fillet. My daughter liked it. See video.
Big Breakfast Bash. Serviceable, but order it if you want something like this. It's not that it's not great, but there's better food on the menu.
Balik Kampung. Huge ayam percik, whole leg chicken. Cooked until tender with generous amount of kuah (gravy). When shared, it's not filling despite the huge protein and carb (turmeric rice) portions. Nice!
Beyond the Sea. Nice pasta dish with generous asari clams (lala). Topped with tasty prawn bisque. Tiger prawns were batter fried, and nice as well. Not bad, and it's one of Yellow Brick Road (YBR)'s recommended dishes.
YBR Tiramisu. Oh wow! This is one of their specialty desserts and it's a crowd-pleaser. Do it! Order it! (contains coffee).
Onde-onde Pancakes. If you like a twist on local flavours, get this. I'm not sure if pandan was used as I was focused on other food on the table. But presentation and taste memang sah (legit). Grated coconut, caramelised banana, DIY poured-over palm sugar (gula Melaka) makes this on par with the Tiramisu.
French Toast. No pictures as we needed to settle the kid in first. But it's okay, bread was thick and with vanilla bean ice cream. Not bad, but overshadowed by others in the menu.
Overall, good atmosphere, good service and most importantly good food. Price? It's subjective but if you're here for an experience I think it's money well-spent. To fill up tummy alone, wrong...
