No frills dining. You go for the food and that's good enough for me.
As a dai chow, New Mun Kee offers really good food at super reasonable prices and the lines that form during dinner is probably the best proof as to how good this place is.
Located on a road median (seriously), it's quite spacious and airy. No decor to speak about, just chairs, tables and a large open kitchen. Parking can be a challenge but there are a lot of spaces if you're willing to walk about 100m away or so.
I went there for lunch with some friends and ordered the steamed fish head, taufu, vegetables and also their salted egg chicken wings.
The food arrived promptly, and I must say everything was above average. The steamed fish head was cooked and garnished with lots of ginger, the taufu came with a lot of ingredients, the claypot vegetables was tasty, and the salted egg chicken wings was super good.
But the most surprising part of the meal was the bill. We were all shocked by the price of the fish head, which everyone expected to be at least RM70 - RM100. It came in at RM36 only.
Super value for money, very good food. What more can...

Read moreCame here for lunch with family on a Friday. Parking was horrendous. I guess the area is packed with delicious places to eat since we had to park about 150 meters away near the housing area.
The restaurant was a different kind of roadside stall setup as they had proper restaurant equipment and plenty of space. It was a hot and sunny afternoon but the restaurant made sure the fans and portable air coolers were keeping the customers nice and comfy.
Since we were a three man group, we had the steamed fish head with ginger, slightly sauteed yao mak and thai style squid. Either the food was damn good, or i was damn hungry. I won't go into details.
Mun Kee steamed fish head comes in 5 styles : sambal sauce, clear steam, black bean, steam with crushed ginger and assam steam. If you want to eat until full with plenty of rice top up, I would recommend steamed with crushed ginger and assam.
Overall, a solid place for those looking for fish...
