Second date patisserie by cubake — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Came to have dessert after dinner. We're grateful that this cozy dining place is pet friendly. Lovely background acoustic music. It was playing Perfect Two when we savour our Grapefruit Passion Fruit tart. The ladies in my family always love something zesty and sour like this, not too much of mousse. After our visit, we takeaway 2 more Grapefruit Passion Fruit tart. I just fell for the yellow sweet and sour ganache topping instantly. They hit it right to create texture, layer and flavour for this petite gâteau. The tart had an edible gold coin on top of the grapefruit marmalade in the middle, written 招财进宝，which adds a little cheeky oriental humour, as this is a Parisian setting but to see mandarin words on the little cake! eat it and you'll have more money and treasures rolling in! Hope to come back and try other desserts like Fly Me to the Moon + Be My Valentines.

Sad to see the table next to us waste food, they left their matcha banana peanut smoothie, still quite a full cup. Perhaps not everyone can take matcha, maybe the team can put this into consideration.

On a side note, i could have takeaway my first order to save on taxes (10% + 6%). I almost gave up looking for this shop upon arriving the building, we circle the building twice, looking for the shop's name "Second Date" but couldn't find... They didnt have a signboard, luckily one of us insisted on finding a parking first and then take a walk around.. only to realize it was just right infront of us while we circle the building, their Signature rotating door was covered by...

Bad customer service! Unfriendly staff. We actually made reservation at 1pm for a table of 4. However we arrived at around 12.20pm and seeing only 2 tables were occupied, we decided to go in first. We informed the staff that we actually had a reservation at 1 but arrived earlier. We requested to be seated at the table at the back but the staff told us that the table was reserved for a group of 4 at 1 pm. We tried to explain to her that it could be for us and gave her the name but she insisted that it wasn't for us. Asked another staff who's the barista, the answer also the same. So I demanded to know which table she actually reserved for us since that wasn't our table. She jzt couldn't tell us which table and simply asked us to sit at a nearby table. So it showed that they didn't even bother to reserve our table eventhough had done reservation. Anyway both the staff were arrogant and unfriendly. Feeling that they were unwilling to do our business, we decided not to dine there but just ordered 4 cups of coffees out of courtesy. Anyway we deliberately stayed till 1.25pm but nobody turned up for that reserved table. Till we walked around that place and passed by at 1.45pm, the table was still empty. I recently ordered a Rocher Cake from CuBake, expecting it to look like the elegant design shown on their website. However, what I received was completely different and looked far less classy than advertised. When I contacted the seller, she admitted that the design had been changed but the website photo had not been updated.

This was incredibly disappointing and felt misleading. For such price, I expected better communication and transparency. If the design had changed, customers should be informed beforehand, especially when the difference is this significant. After the call, I also reached out to their Instagram page to ask for a solution, but it’s been 5 days, and they have completely ignored my messages.

This entire experience was frustrating and unprofessional. I would not recommend CuBake unless you’re willing to take the risk of receiving something that doesn’t match your expectations. Be cautious when purchasing cakes from here and don’t expect any proper response if you have issues.

Update: I’m pleased to say the seller did contact me few days ago, sincerely apologized, and issued 50/50 refund, which I’ve received this morning. I appreciate the effort they made to rectify...
