Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2 Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2 Service: ⭐⭐⭐1/2 Value: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Parking: ⭐⭐⭐1/2 (Publika parking which can be confusing) A restaurant that serves delightful steaks
Make no mistake about Beato - it is first and foremost a steak restaurant. Other non-steak options are available but they are limited.
The steak: we opted for the Dry Aged Angus Sirloin (not always the best cut) to be cooked medium (not the best style). Yet the meat was still succulent and had plenty of natural taste. Those who like condiments (like how Malaysians slap on 4 types of sauces on their Subway sandwiches), you are in for a treat. All steaks come with 4 condiments and oven baked garlic cloves. The latter was spectacular - smoky, melt in your mouth garlic that complemented the steak. We ordered the black pepper sauce which was good too. The extras of thick chips and sautéed mushrooms rounded off the highlight dish of the night perfectly.
Garden salad was fresh and crisp and nicely mixed (note: not drowned) with balsamic vinegar dressing. The complimentary buns and butter-olive tapenade spread were delightful too.
The other main course ordered was the seafood pasta. It was served with a generous amount of seafood (prawns, clams and scallops) that was cooked to perfection. If I could nitpick, the colour of the sauce could be more intensely red. That would be purely cosmetic as the sauce did taste good.
We rounded off the dinner with the chocolate mousse (complimentary for the birthday boy). It was ok - texture was a bit harder than I expected but not overly sweet.
Service on the whole was competent but they could be more attentive. In between courses we had to wait or even gesture to the waitresses to clear the table even though a few of them walked past our table a few times. When clearing the table, they should also give it a wipe if there was a mess. They should also provide us a plate to store the shells of the clams and prawns - it was hard to find the pasta!
One of my favourite steak...
Read moreNot worth it for the price you pay - not the food, not the service. It’s about RM1/g for the Wet Aged Wagyu. Which is totally fine. But after the meat was sliced did I only ask what grade was it. It was grade 4-5. Story time.
Starter Escargot 4/5. Pretty good.
Main 300g (approx) Wet Aged Wagyu 3.5/5 300g (approx) Dry Aged Angus 3.8/5 The Angus was better.
Now for the presentation. I was there with a friend and we wanted to share. So, we asked the waiter if we could have them slice it up for us. Guess what it came back as? It came back in 4 large chops of each steak as if they just took a cleaver and chopped my poor steak and served it to us on one plate. Total of 8 huge chops. It was at least 3 inches wide. Have they never served steak to share? This puts us off right away. We knew, that this restaurant isn’t truly a steak place. Even Gordon Ramsey slices his darned steaks before serving it.
When I asked about the marbling after tasting the first large chop of Wagyu, the waitress said “around 4-5 marbling”. I think you should know the grade and not estimate it. Pretty sure being a steakhouse you can straight away tell me what I’m eating. The experience wasn’t great. The Angus was much better. Oh did I mention they took away one of my tomato bowls (see photo) after they cleaver our steaks? I felt shortchanged lol
Also about the waiters, they like to watch when you eat which made me quite uncomfortable - seated directly in front of the cashier counter. Yes, I should expect it when I sit right in front of them but they didn’t need to keep looking/staring. Really put me off.
It says a lot when the best thing there were the snails. Anyway, try at your own risk. Who knows maybe you’re not as fussy as I and the restaurant gets to live...
Read moreSorry to mention. This restaurant is over rating. In term of service is disappointing. My experienced yesterday. They served first dish without any side plate n cutlery. We was thinking may be she getting cutlery for us. Waited a while nobody came back to us and I hv to remind them.
We placed drinks order when they took our food order from beginning once we sat down. We only got our drinks at third dish, yet need another reminder to them. The staff walking up and down not even check on us.
I requested extra butter, the waitress told me is pre-prepared. Olive and butter must served together. Okay, we wait. After 15mins i check again where is the butter. She said need to wait. Request some butter need to wait for long. We still wait patiently.
End up she served us second set of bread with butter and olive. All of us speechless, again she jst put down n walked off. We have to call another waiter explain to him we jst want some butter not asking another set. We asked him took away the bread.
I made reservation in the afternoon. I ordered a dessert for my sister birthday celebration. I requested them whether can help to prepare in advance put Happy Birthday wording on the plate, I wish to give her surprise. They said no problem and agreed on the phone.
Unfortunately, jst a candle on the dessert, nothing else. I checked with the staff where is the words. He told me chef is busy, no time for that. I informed in the afternoon not last min. Do u think this is right answer for customer.
