This is a place where there is no story or theme what so ever cafe with everything you want in 1 menu.
Sometimes too much of something may look good, however you lost touch of your quality and services.
Food is salty. My carbonara comes with a half boiled egg. If you want to really use egg yolk for carbonara, just get some really good eggs and use egg it instead of half baked egg and salty cream. Originally in Italy, carbonara only uses egg yolk. I felt too strong of either chicken stocks or salt. Chef didn't think of using yellow onions to balance out some sweetness in it. Therefore the carbonara gets 2 / 5 from me. Oh and noodles can cook less 1 minute.
Coffee - there is always a reason a coffee is segregated into latte and cappuccino. I ordered a ice coffee latte. However the barista uses a French press to create foam for my iced latte. The cup was huge. At least 380 to 400ml however, the actual coffee was just 150 to 180ml where the rest are all foam. The foam is thicker than a cappucinno. So perhaps change menu into iced cappucinno instead, but there is also non such drink. See less is more, and i appreciate simplicity and as original as it gets. Maybe owner is trying to impress customers that we give a huge glass of coffee... And forgot that that taste matters most. Coffee latte: 1 / 5
Nasi Kerabu - definately a Nono. Entire plate does not meet my expectations. It's not bad but this can be remove from the menu if the taste maintain at this rate. And i dont see that you need this to be in ur menu. 2 / 5
Mushroom soup - I sense the chef must have either worked in a hotel before. Its almost there. Too watery. And too much salt is added to enhance the taste. Perhaps use better mushroom or at least pan grill it a little to enhance the mushroom aroma before turning into soup? Some grinder cooker makes great mushroom soup.
3 / 5
Waitress can't understand a simple question which coffee bean are they using and staff there could have dress better. Design renovation wise is pretty OK and if they dress better, it can enhance the overall appearances as well. I am a very particular customer looking not just because of how the food is tasted like, however also focus on how passionate an establishment is from all rounder. It is a 1 star from me however, decided to give a 2 as there are many rooms to improve and perhaps I will visit again next time and if you guys improve, I'll edit the ratings. Good luck. And hope to see you all succeed...
*Also please DO NOT USE A KID UNDERAGE to serve your customers.
Overall, this is a neighbourhood cafe and probably customers around dont really care about the taste. If you are in the area and needed a place to hang,...
Read moreAfter getting disappointed by the many seemingly impressive hipster cafés out there, this place totally exceeded my expectations. The food was really good! You can tell that they're serious about making good food and not merely making pretty looking food.
TJ Burger: pork patty was juicy and had that smoky flavour - I was surely impressed! It tastes well balanced, and one thing I really liked was that it wasn't really greasy.
Au Gratin Penne: this one does not taste like the typical canned tomato sauce flavour sold by many cafés out there - I could taste the meat flavour infused w the sauce. Note that it can be quite heavy if you eat it alone, so it's better to share with another person.
Pork Chop: Flavourful and juicy pork, taste is on point. The fries were some good fries though, every bite was solid, filled with potato, and well seasoned- not too salty nor tasteless- didn't need any sauce at all.
Vanilla Milkshake: I took a sip and it surprised me-the milkshakes I usually get are super cold w fine ice crumbles, but this wasn't too cold and was simply smooth, creamy, w a pleasant vanilla flavour. And it comes in a big cup too!
Service is great too. I'll be...
Read moreLocated on the first floor of an old shop house in Taman Bukit Anggerik, Cheras, what catches your interest is the variety of plants in the restaurant. Decor is simple and takes advantage of the features of the old shop lot. We had the sandwich which my son opted for sourdough instead of wholemeal bread. The flavour of the filling was not drowned in sauces, like some sandwiches. The Big Breakfast had mash, baked beans, house bacon, salad, mushrooms, potatoes and a slice of sourdough bread. Totally tasty and satisfying. The Pork belly and lard rice had 2 slices of yummy pork belly, salad, an egg, sunny side up and of course pieces of deep fried lard. I would have preferred the lard bits to be a little bit more crunchy. Overall a tasty filling meal. The Bacon and mash had a generous serving of house h bacon and flavourful mash. Simple and tasty dish. The lime and lemon drinks had salt on the rim of the glass. Something different that actually tempered the sourness of the lemon and lime. Will definitely...
