Tucked away in the heart of Langkawi, Gallo Nerro is a true hidden pépite for Italian food lovers. This charming spot delivered one of our most memorable dining experiences on the island — warm ambiance, impeccable service, and food that speaks the language of Italy fluently. We were a family of five, including three children, and the evening couldn’t have gone more smoothly. The kids devoured their spaghetti pomodoro — simple, classic, and full of flavor. For appetizers, we shared the seared scallops and the baby octopus with zucchini and potato — both beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. The scallops were so good, in fact, that we had to order a second round after our son claimed the first plate almost entirely! For the main course, my wife went with the fettuccine al salmone, perfectly creamy and balanced, while I enjoyed the rich and aromatic tortellini ai funghi. Still hungry (and irresistibly tempted), I treated myself to a second pasta: the egg tagliolini with mixed mushrooms, which was earthy, fresh, and deeply satisfying. Dessert was a sweet finale we couldn’t skip. The dark chocolate flan cake was a heavenly, melt-in-the-mouth experience that had everyone sneaking their spoons in — despite having ordered their own scoops of chocolate gelato. What truly elevated the evening was the warm, attentive service. A special thank you to the two lovely ladies and Daniel for making us feel so welcome. And hats off to Lorenzo, the maestro behind this culinary symphony — your passion shines through every dish. If you’re in Langkawi and love Italian cuisine, Gallo Nerro is the place to go. A gem, a delight, and a place we can’t wait to return to.

Definitely better than a lot of Italian restaurants in KL. The price is reasonable for me, and it's really delicious! Four of us dined in. We ordered 2 dinner sets (steak, appetizer, and ice cream), 2 appetizers (grilled octopus and La Burrata), duck leg, ravioli, tiramisu, Aperol spritz, mocktail, and blackcurrant juice. The total was around RM 600+, including the service charge. We were all full and satisfied. Steak - Very juicy! For me, it is very flavorful, but the sauce might be a little salty for someone who prefers a milder taste. Grilled Octopus - A little overcooked and fishy, but with nice seasoning. The zucchini tasted good. La Burrata - A really good appetizer! I like how the cheese is smooth and milky with a sour hint from the tomato. Definitely will order this again when I come back. Ravioli - Full of mushroom and truffle aroma. Duck Leg - I like the sauce! Sweet, sour, and savory. Aperol Spritz - The reason why I'm here. Tiramisu - 5/5 for me. I fully recommend this restaurant. The servers are very friendly too. Don't miss out when you visit Langkawi!

Gallo Nero? More like Gallo Dead. I decided to give this restaurant a shot, but I left more disappointed than a kid getting socks for Christmas. The meal kicked off with overbaked bread that could double as a blunt weapon, served with olive oil so tasteless I started questioning if it was even oil or just some mysterious liquid. Then came the beef carpaccio, lovingly adorned with rocket leaves that looked like they’d been harvested from a neglected backyard. The meat itself? Gaseous, heavy, and about as enjoyable as chewing on air. Tasteless and tragic. And the main course? The infamous frutti di mare—a truly religious experience… because I prayed for it to end. The seafood tasted like it came straight out of the freezer aisle, and the sauce had the personality of a poorly written text message. I can only assume the original chef has either retired or taken the recipes to the grave. Whatever the case, this place is a far cry from what the reviews promised. Even if they invited me back for free, I’d pass.

Overrated and worst service. The waitstaff is not to be blamed but the management is! They didn't follow the ticket order process and cooked in bulk instead.

Came here during lunch time at 12.30pm as per my reservation, the lunch set menu wasn't ready hence we ordered drinks first. We were the first few table that came and ordered but the appetizer came at 1.21pm, main course came at 2.07pm. Yes, main course came more than 1 hr after we ordered. What frustrated me the most is the disorganization as they didn't serve as per the ticket order. My appetizer was Buffalo Mozarella Caprese which was pretty simple but it served the last as they served Baked Escargots for other tables who came and ordered after us. Then, they also served the main course to other tables who came after us. When we asked, they said it's how they do it because they cooked in bulk (like catering food). It's very surprising and upsetting because most of people there made reservations before they came and it was a pre-defined lunch set menu hence Gallo Nero should be able to do proper prep to execute the ticket. I don't think there was "mise en place" in the kitchen because if there were, we wouldn't get the main course 1.5 hrs after we came. And since they cooked in bulk, the taste of all the meals was also subpar.

1 star is for the only female wait staff who apologized profusely for the delay. Thanks to her, I will consider to come again only if they fix their entire ticket process and...

Amazing Italian food. We came here to celebrate mom's birthday. Everything was perfect from the food to the hospitality. The boss and Lynn was really helpful and absolutely welcoming.

We ordered (estimate names, I cannot remember the names) Spaghetti aglio olio : unfortunately I did not like this. I find this bland. Seafood linguine : superb pasta. The tomato sauce is seasoned and infused with bursts of seafood flavours. Pesto salmon fettuccine : super tasty, genuine pesto, tastes as good as Genoa's pesto Prawn ravioli: amazing and absolutely stuffed with prawns. Angus steak: this would be the best steak i have ever had in my life, the balsamic vinegar with red wine vinegar reduction is the star. I even ask if I could buy a pack Hahaha. Panna cotta : super soft and super creamy. Absolutely wonderful and refreshing pairing with passion fruit Tiramisu: very creamy and full of coffee flavour.

I highly recommend this place. It is very affordable and I will never forget the way they made me feel. 😇😍 Lynn was very kind to bless my mom with a free tiramisu. Thank you so much.

If I were to neat pick with this place, I would say maybe reduce the saltiness a little bit. Otherwise...
