What I'm about to tell you is not just a review. It's a kind beautiful inspiring story of what a human does for another, TODAY.
8:15 pm: I was sick and looking for healthy, non greasy food. So I went to restaurant for some pumpkin soup, which was fabulous - infused with lemongrass and coconut milk. Just as healthy and delicious, as I was looking for.
Here what Soroya (might be mispelled) did:
~8:30 pm: Before my soup was brought out, the owner noticed and asked if I was ill. After a few more detailed questions, she suggested that I should hydrate with coconut water.
~8:50: After I finished my soup, she told me to come back tomorrow to get the coconuts that she just asked her staff to get for me. I thanked her (a lot coz I can't walk further than 100m). Few minutes later she told me to wait, one of the staff (Mike) can run the scooter and get it now. It's about 9 p.m. at this point.
Mike quickly rushed out and returned with a fresh young coconut with lots of water, that he particularly chose. I overheard that he had to instruct the coconut vendor not too cut open the coconut. They were conscious with food safety, so Soroya cuts the coconut herself, with her chopper at the restaurant. (See attached picture)
You can imagine how thankful I was to them at this point. I was grateful. On top of that, she didn't take my reimbursement for the coconut. I insisted, but she said, "I just want you to get better, it's on me."
I'm touched! It's not the service, not the money, nothing. No hidden agenda. Doing a good deed, without expecting anything in return. She just simply cared for another stranger! What a beautiful kind heart.
PS: I left out the details of how ill I was, because it's insignificant, so please don't trouble/expect similar treatments from the restaurant.
It's a beautiful story that is...
Read moreThis morning I attended this establishment with my husband to have some breakfast. We both ordered poached eggs. When breakfast was served my husband was given 2 poached eggs on toast. I was served 2 partially poached eggs, completely raw inside. I called a member of staff and politely explained that the eggs were raw and I have recently been ill with a stomach bug, so was not able to eat raw eggs. The member of staff tried to explain to me in a patronising manner that poached eggs are essentially raw eggs. We come from the UK. Anyone who knows what a poached egg is knows that is not a raw egg. The member of staff, a male who might have been the owner, then told me: "don't get sick" and then left the raw eggs on my plate, refusing to give me some actual poached eggs. My husband ate his breakfast and went onto pay. As if the treatment I’d received wasn’t already inappropriate, the same member of staff asked my husband if everything was okay with our breakfast. This was obviously sarcasm and further disrespecting. Obviously, he charged us for the eggs (which were taken back to the kitchen without a single bite on them after my husband finished eating his), plus a 10% "service" charge. Having spent the last 3 months travelling SE Asia, I have never come across such bad establishment. If you are a respectful individual who likes to be treated with politeness and respect, I would strongly advised against this establishment. If you do not want to get sick, it is probably a good idea to eat your eggs elsewhere too. It isn't cheap either. If you want to get an idea of the type of people who run this business, take a look at how they have addressed any previous negative reviews on...
Read moreThis is a Chinese restaurant specializing in seafood. You can choose between live or frozen lobsters, but other items such as tiger prawns, oysters, and scallops seem to be frozen. Since the prices are based on weight, it’s better to watch them weigh the seafood before cooking to avoid any concerns.
There are also local dishes on the menu, which are more affordable, but we decided to go for tiger prawns since it was a special occasion. The taste was decent, though the prawns felt slightly undercooked, leaving us a bit uneasy. It would have been better if they had cooked them a little longer.
The person who took our order, possibly the owner, was an older Chinese man. Unfortunately, he was smoking before we entered, and the restaurant smelled of tobacco. To make matters worse, we noticed him smoking behind a partition while waiting for our order, which was unpleasant.
The food was average, the portions were reasonable, but dining in a place filled with cigarette smoke ruined the experience. Regrettably, I won’t...
