Enjoyed our brunch here surely! I went there with my parents, as always.

Upon arrival, we have to scan the menu, then order at the counter. The menu is limited, but that is what I like. Few choices but served at its best quality. (Can see the options available in the images attached) I liked the atmosphere, it was calm and serene with simple music. Inside deco was minimalist style.

We ordered a few mains - Old Mark Big Breakfast, Tomatoes Chicken Rice Bowl, and Tomyam Shrimp Fettucini.

  1. Old Mark Big Breakfast (RM27) A hearty big breakfast. It came with scrambled eggs which were creamy and seasoned well, a tablespoon of egg mayo which had eggs and onions - a nice onion punch in the face, salad with lettuce, arugula, purple cabbage and carrots with if not mistaken very little sesame dressing (could have dressed more), a fine smokey sausage, hash brown, deep-fried potato chunks, and two slices of ham. And sliced cherry tomatoes all over. The only comment is the salad needs to be dressed more, for my preference.

  2. Tomatoes Chicken Rice Bowl (RM20) It's just satisfactory. It came with battered chicken coated with tomato based sauce, white rice, bulls eye egg and a simple slaw. Taste wise although it indicated in the menu that it's spicy, it lacked. Strong tomato taste and a bit dry overall. Maybe if the sauce was separated and customers poured as they prefer, it might have been better.

  3. Tomyam Shrimp Fettucini (RM24) This was good, or great. The pasta was cooked al dente, the shrimps were not overcooked, and the pasta was dressed well with its sauce. It's not a wet pasta dish, it's dry. The level of spiciness is moderate. It's also served with arugula on the side, which I think did not play a role, but for the color on the plate it's nice. Enjoyed it.

In terms of drinks, we ordered Iced Matcha Latte, Hot Jasmine Green Tea, and Hot White Coffee. Drinks were generally above RM10, but just a nice portion for the meal.

The highlight was the souffle pancake for sure! We ordered "The Yellow Peach", it was divine, we devoured it within minutes. The pancake was nice and jiggly, did not have the eggy taste, topped off with whipped heavy cream and canned peaches. The balance of sweet and savoury was amazing. Only comment, the rosemary bits were not necessary because if eaten together, it gave a bitter note. Just push it aside if you order it.

Service was great, waiters were friendly and service was fast, we did not wait long upon ordering.

Highly recommended for a good cafe...

What started off with "just a cup of coffee and then we'll go" turned into late lunch as there were 3 boys who were big eaters and still hungry after satay lunch. A short drive from Sun May Hiong and located along the way back to our accommodation, The Old Mark Cafe ticked all the right boxes in a cafe.

Apparently they were famous for fluffy pancakes and thus we ordered two to share between us - indeed it was light fluffy and the toppings were delicious and sweet.

◾The Whites Nutty RM19 - fluffy souffle pancake with homemade white chocolate sauce, walnuts and butter crumbs. ◾The Tiramisu RM19 - fluffy souffle pancake with homemade cream sauce, lady finger soaked with daily espresso & butter crumb. ◾Tiramisu RM19 - their take on this classic Italian dessert was commendable. ◾Brownie with Ice Cream RM17 - didn't get to taste as it was walloped by the hungry kids. ◾Old Mark Big Breakfast RM27 - chicken sausage, chicken bacon, king oyster mushroom, tempura fish, house salad, scrambled egg, hash brown, eggy sauce & toasted bread. ◾Carbonara with chicken bacon was quickly polished by the boy. ◾Chicken Bites - popcorn chicken in disguise. ◾Coffee - long black clocks at RM10 (+1 for iced); while flat white cost RM11 (+1 for iced) ◾Others - iced matcha

Everyone was finally full to the brim and headed back to the bungalow to enjoy...

I went with my family last weekend and was glad to have a table in time (usually there's a long wait). We usually come here for the food and souffle pancake which never disappoints but I'm only going to highlight the service of the staff for improvement.

Firstly, ALL the staffs are usually hiding and standing at the counter for idk what reason and it's very hard to catch the attention of one of them when they're out serving meals because most of the times they walk fast, serve and go back to the counter.

We had a quite big group and it's kinda rude when majority of the staff do not acknowledge or even say "excuse me, hi here's your-" and just shoves the food at your table.

I ordered a souffle pancake for later which they did prepare when I requested for it but the attitude of the staff was just disappointing :( my family members were crowded at the table and could have knocked over the pancake if I did not signal them which should be the staff's duty, not me.

Overall I love the food and atmosphere but I hope owner looks at my review and improve the way staffs operate to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience at your cafe! Hopefully when I return it has improved...
