A Sincere Feast for the Taste Buds
In today’s fast-paced culinary world dominated by convenience and artificial flavors, Street Grilled Crab stands out as a rare gem. Tucked in a modest corner with no flashy décor or aggressive marketing, this open-concept restaurant is a true testament to what happens when passion, craftsmanship, and integrity come together.
The food is simply unforgettable. The grilled crab—undoubtedly the evening’s highlight—is masterfully cooked, boasting a perfect balance of charred aroma and juicy sweetness. The clamshell soup (lala) is clean and brimming with ocean freshness, while the fresh threadfin fish is so succulent and tender, you’d think it just leapt from the sea into the pan. Fried rice is elevated with wild-caught shrimp, delivering a natural umami and satisfying texture. The dragon vegetables are crisp and vibrant, while the sweet sour chicken is fried to a golden perfection, crisp on the outside and tender within.
What truly sets this restaurant apart is its bold and admirable stance against artificial flavoring. No MSG, no chicken stock powder—just authentic ingredients, meticulously prepared. The chicken broth, for example, is slowly simmered for hours, drawing out deep, comforting flavors that no shortcut seasoning could replicate. Such culinary honesty requires not only time, but true skill—something that the restaurant's veteran chefs, each over 70 years old, have honed through decades of dedication.
Beyond the plate, the dining experience is crafted with an astonishing level of care. Although the restaurant is open-air, it is fully air-conditioned, ensuring diners remain cool and free from oily fumes. Even the hand soap, tissues, and disposable gloves have been thoughtfully selected to uphold hygiene and comfort. According to the owner, this restaurant is not driven by profit, but by a passion for flavor and a sincere desire to serve diners something truly special.
In every sense—ingredient selection, culinary technique, affordable pricing, and customer experience—Street Grilled Crab is a masterclass in honest, heartfelt dining. In an age of standardized “techno-flavors,” this place is a quiet rebellion, and a triumphant one.
If Michelin stars are awarded for dedication to flavor, tradition, and integrity, Street Grilled Crab most certainly deserves a...
Read moreVery bad service. Waited more than half an hour and keep calling for ordering but ignoring us. Only 2 crews putting in orders and both them busy calculating bills for each new and completed orders. A lot of dishes not available even business just started. Others crew just standing and ignoring our calling. Be caution to ask the crab price before order. When we placing order, the price in menu indicated RM 85 per piece so we ordered 2. But bill shocking us as it charged us RM 281 for 2 crabs. The boss told us the price in menu was for XL size crab but not available so changed to XXL size and charge base on RM 148 per kg (infact, to me, it doesn't look like XXL compare to what other restaurant are selling). We said your crew not telling us it was not available and the boss just pretend: oh, they didn't infirm you? Felt being cheated. Overall dishes taste is ok (not super good taste) but not...
Read moreThe environment of the place was decent. It is an air conditioned environment. Perfect for family dinners and gatherings. The food was quite okay as well. I love the black pepper cheese crab. Unfortunately, the restaurant only serves plain bread to dip it into the sauce of the crab. It would be a better experience if the restaurant serves fried mantao to dip it into the crab sauce. The crab that day wasn't that fresh as some of the crabs were a bit mushy. Another dish that we ordered was a marmite flavoured crab. I feel that the crab was a bit tad too sweet to be the sauce. But 1 thing I like most about the restaurant is the steam lala. The lala has a spicy kick to it as it has chilli in the soup. The lala was also fresh. Other than that, we ordered a coconut husk soup with chicken. The soup was really nice as it has a nice sweet...
