Tucked away beside a school and basketball court in the charming town of Bentong lies a true hidden gem that food lovers shouldn't miss. This humble spot serves some of the best "yong liu" (酿料) I’ve ever tasted — fresh, handmade, and packed with flavour. The fish paste is chewy, smooth, and incredibly clean-tasting — no fishy smell at all, just that satisfying bite and perfect seasoning wrapped in brinjal, chilli, and beancurd skin. Absolutely scrumptious!
What really sealed the deal for me was the silky taufufah (豆腐花), paired with their signature Bentong ginger syrup. Fragrant, not overly sweet, and warming — it’s the kind of dessert that makes you smile with every spoonful. And don’t skip their soya bean milk either — smooth, fresh, and again, elevated with that zing from the ginger syrup. A perfect breakfast and dessert combo that hits all the right notes.
Who needs to drive all the way to Ipoh when Bentong has this local treasure? Highly recommended for anyone passing through or looking to discover authentic, high-quality local eats.Tucked away beside a school and basketball court in the charming town of Bentong lies a true hidden gem that food lovers shouldn't miss. Today, I visited your restaurant with my friends and family. As we expected more crowds on a Saturday, we came prepared for some waiting time. However, when we arrived, the restaurant wasn’t very full and there were still a few empty tables.
After we were seated, a young Chinese staff member came to take our order. Not long after that, more customers filled the remaining tables. We waited patiently, but after 30 minutes, we noticed that customers who arrived after us had already received their food.
We approached the same staff member who took our order and asked him to check. He simply told us it was “coming soon.” We waited another 15 minutes, and by then, those same customers had finished eating and left, while even newer customers were getting served.
We followed up again, and this time, the staff member was not only dismissive but also rude. He didn’t acknowledge the delay or mistake, and instead defensively said, “weekends are like that,” without offering any apology.
Frustrated and disappointed, we decided to cancel our order and leave. Even then, he didn’t acknowledge us or seem to care.
This experience was extremely disappointing. We understand weekends can be busy, but being ignored, lied to, and treated rudely is unacceptable. We hope the management will seriously look into staff training and customer service to prevent similar experiences for...

Note: I notice that there is one place with the same name in SS2.
Another favourite place of mine to eat curry CCF is this Little Bentong Street Hainanese Cafe. The counter is in front of the main street where one picks the ingredients and ask them to cook.
They do sell curry mee on top of CCF so possibilities are limitless. The "Liew" are also quite a lot to choose from which is appealing to me as I love variety. Since they also serve curry mee, I asked them to include cockles together with my bowl of stuffed ingredients doused with curry broth.
Or ask them to serve the ingredients separately depending on the type - fried or submerged in clear broth.
The curry broth is one of the better one, probably on par with Yuan Kie & Bentong's Kopitiam.. but I didn't like the fact that they allow (or lack of enforcement) people smoking in the...
