Bentong Market and the “center of town”, is where this kopitiam is but you best choose a day that’s not a weekend nor public holiday. This small hallowed town is literally now similar to Melaka, where weekdays only the local will patron and comes weekend this place is just flooded by tourists and often jammed packed!!! We often take drives here on Thursdays to avoid the weekend jam and yet able to have our favourite curry chicken plus either CCF ( Yong tau foo and Chu Cheong Fun ) or the wan ton noodles. Without the curry chicken it’s still ok but not as mesmerising!! 😂😂😂. After which a stroll towards the Ice cream shop or tau kwa or stuffed tau pok shop. All you need to is ask and everyone will point you in the direction ( few shop away). I highly recommend you to buy the salted fish stuffed meat tau pok and the veg stuffed foo chuk rolls. I would also ya pau the tau foo fa but the specialty is Bentong ginger brown sugar syrup added to the tau fa. Maybe even the soya bean drinks induced with the ginger and brown sugar instead of the normal syrup. A must try is their red bean ice cream block 😂😂😂😂. Too much the do what we always do ……...

Recently I get crazy over chee cheong fun, particularly those with option to douse with curry.. as I have a lot of options when it comes to what ingredients to be included. I like the idea of being able to eat variety of ingredients without having to eat carbs.
That brings me to Bentong, a popular one day trip town in the largest state of Peninsular Malaysia. Yuan Kie Kopitiam might be more popular for their Hooi Ji Wantan Mee but there's a popular CCF stall inside the same Kopitiam too.
Taking all the "Liew" or stuffed ingredients, tell them what you want to douse with.. be it clear soup or like me, curry which was very aromatic with the right consistency. I asked for a plate of dry curry chicken which proved to be another hit.
They sell out very fast as they open early in the morning and most ingredients will finish by noon, a testament on how popular the stall is. Go for the famous Bentong taufu pok and the crispy fried beancurd skin that soak in all the delicious...
Read moreLove the iced coffee here. But you have to que and order, and collect then pay on the spot. A good system if you’re not alone. Because it is not easy to get any seats/table here especially on the weekend.
Wantan Mee was okay, different texture of noodles compared to the ones in KL.
But I truly love their iced coffee. Definitely must order if you love local coffee.
Ordering the Yong tau foo was a challenge. So many people waiting, they even pushed you away with elbow 😂 probably they were too hungry and felt it was like the survival of the fittest to be able to get that food.
Anyway, it was a good experience but probably not for the faint hearted. Hehe.
Be prepared to share tables with others and manage your ways to order the food. Go to each stalls to order your food and drinks separately.
Old kopitiam with retro tiles flooring. Stalls operators and drinks maker were very nice. Can be noisy as they do scream and shout their orders out loud 😆...
