If you're looking for a no-frills, delicious Chinese meal in Bentong, Shuangxi Lou hits the spot. This local favorite isn't fancy, but it serves up some seriously satisfying food at really reasonable prices.
The Scene: Expect a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. It's a great place for a relaxed lunch or dinner with friends.
The Food: The menu offers a wide variety of typical Chinese dishes, with a focus on familiar favorites. Think classics like sweet and sour pork, stir-fried vegetables with garlic sauce, and their signature steamed fish. The portions are generous, so come hungry or be prepared to share.
What to Try: I recommend their Kung Pao Chicken - the chicken is crispy and the sauce has a nice kick. The steamed fish is another popular dish, cooked perfectly and served with a light soy sauce. Don't forget to order a side of their plain rice or fried rice, both perfect for soaking up all the delicious flavors.
Pros: Affordable prices Large portions Delicious, familiar Chinese dishes Family-friendly atmosphere
Cons: Not fancy - the focus is on the food, not the ambiance May be crowded during peak hours
Overall: Shuangxi Lou is a great option for a casual and satisfying Chinese meal in Bentong. It's perfect for those looking for good food without the...
Read moreTrying to rip tourist. Went there with 2 ladies. ordered their recommended steam chicken and yam pork. the waitress then recommended river fish. we asked if their patin is big coz we can't finish but she said they'll split it if it's big. waited half an hour and none of the dishes came. so we chased them and they brought the 2 meat. when we're almost done, the fish came. it was 1.2kg. We were caught surprised because we can never finish such a big fish. then the same waitress said they cannot split the fish else they can't sell the other half. so why suggest it initially we ask and she kept quiet. then we (finally) ask how much is the fish. she quoted Rm240 per KG! that's double the price of the most expensive patin i had in KL and raub. the wild ones are only Rm120 per KG and farmed ones about Rm60. i told her to take the fish away coz i'm not going to pay for it. finally the boss (chef) came and i told him she misrepresented from the start. he finally took the fish away and waived it. Bad experience. Food was...
Read moreNote to tourists. It was not a pleasant dine in experience we had as this is the 1st time we came to this shop/Bentong. I did not scroll through google review when I came to this shop, only blogspot.
Overall experience : Food was not served as what it mentioned. We ordered famous pork and yam(芋头扣肉). It came without yam. Food was over priced. We ordered ginger garlic chicken(half of kampong chicken) , pork and "yam", and stir fry 4 season vegetables. We mentioned saying that we want all dishes serve in small portion. The bill cost Rm126 in total. The bill did not mentioned how it was counted but I saw through their written notes. (RM48 chicken , RM42 Pork & "Yam" , RM25 for Vege) Food served too slow. The first dish came is Pork and "Yam". The 2nd and 3rd dish served after 20 minutes later. The pork skin layered was attached with fur.
I gave 2 star because the aunty apologised of being slow and suggests to offer us free hot small rice after waiting...
