Fantasy Valley Restaurant 桃源谷饭店 — Restaurant in Pahang

Seriously worst experience ever. Once we reach there, we requested for a table by the river. The lady told us to wait for an empty table as it was all fully occupied. Waited for about 20min before we were told to go to an empty table.. But before we could sit, another lady told us to take a number instead.. D family that came after us took the table instead.. And we waited nearly another 30min to get an empty table only to be asked to take a table nearby the entrance eventho we had clearly asked for one by d river.. N after a few min, they lead us to an empty table by d river.. Why make us go to another table when there was a table ready by d river already? Isnt that why we took the number n kept waiting patiently.. While waiting for the table, we noticed other customers making orders at d counter first before taking their table, but when we went to order, we were told to make order only after getting a table.. We ordered at about 12.45pm. It took them 40min to start serving the food, the fish came first n the last dish served was fried egg at about 2pm. D food came one by one, with such gap that we could not really enjoy any of the dishes fully. However the table that came after us n before us had all their food came at once.. Why such partiality as we also pay for their food n services.. Was it because we are not chinese? Cuz it was very noticable that their chinese customers were treated so well unlike us.. Such a disappoinment as we had been looking forward for a happy lunch.. Will not be recommending this place to our family n friends if their will be looking down at other races.. One of Kampung Bukit Tinggi's relevance is as a local attraction to the many resorts that dot Janda Baik - Bukit Tinggi and Genting Highlands itself. Fantasy Valley joins the many chinese restaurants that dot this village-cowboy town setting.

The constant volume of patrons mean tranquility is not the selling point. Since advance reservations is not allowed, one has to queue with others upon arrival. Luckily, quick turnaround of tables is the order of the day. We had to wait about 15mins for a table during the 'lull period' of 430pm.

With tables set beside Sungai Tanglir, one could get a nice backdrop or a churning teh-tarik mud flow when it rains heavy/long enough. This place won't win any prize for being picturesque but do check out the pomelo tree.

We had the curry wild boar, claypot kangkung, tung-choy tofu and steamed patin. Judging by the car number plates originating from Johor to Penang (even Singapore) means many agree the food is tasty. I personally found every dish to be "at least good". Perhaps this is due to the freshness of the main ingredients, being supposedly close to the source/farm but the cooking was certainly more skillful than that of Kuala Selangor restaurants.

Visited this restaurant on a Thursday (19/10) after leaving Genting. Coming in from the main road, please pay attention there are 2 桃源谷restaurants with similar names. The first one you will encounter along the road is “Wonderland Valley”, this restaurant “Fantasy Valley” is just slightly further down. This is my first time coming to this area, so I cannot comment on which restaurant is better.

Arrived at around 12:10pm, parking spaces were many and we managed to get one of the tables next to the stream. Dining atmosphere was nice as the slow flowing water in sight creates a serene feel.

Purposely came here for the river fish, we chose the wild patin buah (rm22/100g). Although we would prefer a fish around 1.2 kg weight for us (7 people), it was not available on that day. The options are either 800g or 1.8kg. So, we took the 1.8kg one but with special request to avoid wastage. We told the kitchen to only cook & serve about 1.2kg there, and cut off the remaining raw fish tail for us to bring home. The manager is helpful and the kitchen executed our request perfectly.
