Update 13th March 2025
Once upon a time, Summer Park used to be one of my favourite restaurants in Bukit Tinggi area. Come weekend, it is not uncommon to see busloads of tourist stopping for dinner.
The interior looked dated and tired, but I'm not here for the look.
◾Red Fermented Beancurd Fried Pork Belly proved to be an addictive snacks. ◾Taufu Egg - I expected the fried egg to come with runny yolk, laid on top of the silky smooth taufu drenched in soy sauce. Instead the yolk were fully cooked and the lip-smacking factor was no longer there. ◾Lala Soup came boiling hot... And it would be perfect if not for some of the clams which had gone bad. ◾Stir Fried Watercress is best consumed hot.
I remember the food used to be good here but now I am not so sure. This place is also where BBQ Chan used to operate after closing down from their precious location.
Past: Good food in Bukit Tinggi
With so many choices in Bukit Tinggi when it comes to dining, I have tried almost all of the places in this area. Summer Park is one of those restaurants that I like to go because of their consistent quality and taste, BUT (there's always a but) it is also very popular with tour buses.. so when I arrived at the front gate seeing tour buses inside, I'd adjourn elsewhere because I hated waiting too long for my dishes.
So yeah.. I could count the times when the stars are all aligned perfectly for me. Imagine my joy when I saw no bus inside the restaurant's compound one evening when I was passing by. I quickly made a sharp turn and made my way into the restaurant to order dinner.
◾herbal pork soup - similar to BKT but not quite, this was a comforting soup for the soul. The Bentong taufu pok soaked in all the soup goodness and a joy to eat. ◾Bentong's signature crispy pork belly with long bean and noodle - with the noodle soaked in the sweet & savoury sauce from the pork belly, the hungry kids devoured the whole plate leaving only the long beans for us. ◾roasted duck - I didn't know that they actually have roast duck, and definitely not sure if it was a fixed fixture in the menu or specials.. but the glistening skin was very crispy and the meat was moist & juicy. I liked it very much! ◾A plate of greens
Sure enough, two buses loaded with tourists stopped when I was about to finish my dinner. I quickly...
Read moreThis restaurant has history and it is famous and food is nice even from old days till now. The food quality is still nice and good taste.
But the restaurant lady that take order which I believe is the chief as well wearing spec is very rude and not friendly. No matter how good is the food but services should not less as well even there are many customers.
Example Scenario:- Incident 1: We have 4 kids with some age between 2 and 3 yo. Then we ordered small rice and lady rudely say that they don't have small and only standard rice and if want then only standard.
Incident 2: Ordered coconut and take away and lady say she will give the whole coconut and no service to put into the take away drink bag or cup and keep mentioned no taking the coconut filling. How do you expect a kids to drink the whole coconut in the car?
I just feel services is not the matter of doing it but is the matter of communication. Explain nicely and customers will understand and sometimes we have certain limitations and hope restaurant can accommodate as well.
Tips: If services or prices not up to standard then try and go to another restaurant at Kg Bukit Tinggi. There are so many restaurants take would do...
Read moreAs an overall, everything we ordered was fine. Nothing was so great but also nothing was bad. All was just ok. This was not our first visit but this time was just ok.
The steamed eggs was just like regular steamed eggs. Just ok nice. The half chicken is a sort of roast chicken. Most of us thought the flavour was odd, and not in a good way. Will no order this ever again. The steamed chicken (the one that has been chopped up) was very tender and succulent. Props for making tender chicken. Slight problem was that it wasn't cooked all the way through. The mix vegetables was okay. The flavours could have been a bit stronger, or just having it more would also have help versus the amount of vegetables. The other vegetable was.....somehow insignificant enough that I can't even remember the flavour of. The claypot fish was ok. The fish was tender and the flavours were fine. Personally, I just didn't care for it. I'd rather have it cooked in other flavours. Lotus wrapped tofu. This was also just ok. Very plain and simple. Wild boar curry. It's ok. Strong curry but not overly spicy. Rice is rice but take note that it comes in 1 giant bowl and that you share...
