And i had listen many good things about Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat hotel at malaysia so i visited their and i have got many thins to review........ Everytime before I go eating a steamboat meal, I'm always excited as it's a meal of sharing joy and also a meal where I become my own chef. This round, we are going to an authentic steamboat place that runs on coal and only has one type of soup base (Fish Head Noodle Soup) which is so interesting. If you have been following my reviews, I do go and try a new steamboat place almost every week. Well as an opener to this review.. This restaurant is one of my 2020 best steamboat.

After the staff fires up the totally authentic steamboat (see pictures) they put a customised fan that is able to control how fast or slow you want the soup to boil (that's cool). I quickly threw some ingredients into the pot such as fishball, meat, and their signature fish head....and waited anxiously for my first bite. Well.. It was amazingly nice...as the soup base was excellent combination with the ingredients I put earlier. 5 🌟 for the fish head meat... A must try here. Goes really well with their special chilli sauce. Also do try a bowl of Fish Head Noodles.

Also had a chat with the nice owner, who has 18 years of experience running this steamboat..which was kinda amazing. Zi Wei Yuan was recommended by a lot of locals when I asked for a nice steamboat restaurant here and almost all recommended this place which actually didn't dissapoint. Well... Being there for slightly over an hour.. I can feel and see happy faces all around enjoying the food and just chit chatting which is actually the whole idea of going for a steamboat meal in the first place.

This wonderful Fish Head Steamboat restaurant recently moved to its new location, now occupying a more spacious and pleasantly airy new dining space. Located at Jln Raja Uda, Butterworth, Zi Wei Yuan Steamboat offers the traditional steamboat and delicious fish head soup sets, as well as other spicier mala based seafood sets for those seeking a more fiery gastronomic experience. For our 4 pax group, we tried and really enjoyed their main signature steamboat, featuring a full array of fresh fried fish meat, meat balls and super yummy prawn balls. These choice ingredients are added to the rich traditional broth fired by a charcoal steamboat burner, which infuses the soup with a lovely smoky aroma. We also tried and loved the twin tiered mala steamboat set, with the top tier being fried frog meat and the bottom tier, juicy sea prawns garnished with fragrant peppercorns and red chillies. Both were excellent and perfect to eat with a bowl of white rice to balance out the heat on the tongue!!! 🤣😄. The sides we had were also memorable: tender strips of breaded fried pork and nicely fried belacan chicken wings with drumlets. Special mention must be given to the lovely and refreshing beverages: highly recommended for fruit juice and tea combo lovers to try the classic Bay Berry Tea, Passion Fruit Yoghurt drink and the signature iced Lime Tea!!!
