Cheong Cia Gong Pian in Sitiawan is a must-try local delicacy that has earned a loyal following among both locals and visitors. This traditional Chinese biscuit, known for its distinctive onion and meat filling, offers a delightful balance of flavors and textures. The outer crust is perfectly baked — crisp and golden brown — while the inside reveals a soft, fragrant filling made from slow-cooked onions and savoury minced meat. The aroma alone is enough to make anyone crave a second bite. The stall’s popularity is evident from the early morning crowd it attracts. As early as 10 a.m., a long queue begins to form, with eager customers waiting patiently to get their hands on the freshly baked gong pian. The biscuits are baked in traditional clay ovens, giving them a unique smoky flavour that sets them apart from modern versions. Each piece is handcrafted, maintaining the authentic taste passed down through generations. If you’re planning to visit, be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment, as these delicious snacks often sell out before noon. Cheong Cia Gong Pian is more than just a biscuit — it’s a taste of Sitiawan’s rich culinary heritage, made with tradition, patience, and heart.

There are plenty other shops selling this fuzhou biscuits but this shop is the most popular one among locals and tourists. Perpetually with a queue outside the shop 6 days a week. Closed on Sundays. Seems no ordering in advance for the savoury biscuits and limited buying (20 pieces on most days) but I saw people buying in big packets like 50 pieces or more?! I grew up eating this biscuits from young. My favourite was the bigger piece with minced pork and onions. No more eating this because I find it salty, oily and felt very thirsty after eating. I had to queue 1 hour to buy for a friend. When sold out, have to wait for the next batch. Its crispy when hot from oven but hard when cold. Have to toast it before eating unless you want to get a lockjaw. There are also the sweet biscuits, twirl biscuits, local produced longevity noodles, red wine, chili sauce and premium chili sauce. Service was okay. Better if you can converse in fuzhou dialect.

Finally got to try this legendary gong piah in Sitiawan, reached here on weekday around 11am (park opposite the store) and need to queue around 20mins for my order to be completed. Small one (RM1.50), is the thin type with onions inside which I believe is fried with lard which smells so aromatic! This is my favourite as it is easy to consume, balanced flavor between sweet and savory, and it feel light as compare to the big one. Big one (RM3.00), is in good size which filled with char siew, fat and thin ratio wise is around 60:40, more towards the sweet char siew sauce taste but it taste great as well, one of this easily fill up your stomach quota haha Highly recommended to have it freshly baked from their traditional oven so you can taste it soft and delicious, once it is cool down it will become quite tough to chew for the buns, do heat it up so it helps to soften it xD definitely worth the wait hehe
