Had the pleasure of dining at Sophia recently, and I must say, the experience was delightful from start to finish. The menu offered a variety of dishes that not only looked appetizing but delivered in taste too.
🔹 Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Prawn This dish had a comforting balance of garlic and olive oil, with a pleasant kick from the chili flakes. The prawns were fresh and juicy, and the addition of black olives gave it an interesting twist. The portion was generous, and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente.
🔹 Mushroom Soup The soup was creamy, well-seasoned, and full of mushroom flavor. It had a nice homemade touch, with herbs adding depth to the taste. Served hot with a smooth texture, it was a great starter that warmed the palate.
🔹 Frankie Roll Lamb with Fries A standout for its uniqueness! The lamb was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a soft flatbread and served with crispy fries. The red cabbage slaw added a fresh crunch, and the accompanying sauces complemented it well. Great for those who want something filling and different.
🔹 Mandi Chicken A solid choice for those craving something hearty. The chicken was succulent and fell off the bone easily, served alongside fragrant mandi rice. The dipping sauces enhanced the dish, adding some tang and spice. It was a satisfying and well-balanced main course.
Overall, Sophia delivers both in taste and presentation. A great spot whether you're in the mood for Italian, Middle Eastern, or fusion comfort food. Highly...
Read moreI am on my way back to Kuala Lumpur and made a stop at Ipoh for dinner. Went to Ann Nasi Ayam, but were closed. On my way to my destination, i passed by Sophia. The restaurant was vibrant and standout at night. I googled and saw panni puri picture, a dish i planned to try recently.
When entered this shop, i am quite impressed. Almost full house. I decided to go upstair as the music were too loud at the ground floor.
Ordered following menu: Isthana Lamb badam masala Two bowl of mandi rice Fatoush salad Pani puri Pineapple juice Barbican Soda
Isthana lamb badam masala is really delicious! The rice too.
I have no comment on pani puri because it was my first. But i like the food presentation.
Overall, i am satisfied. The price is reasonable to me. Compared to those arabic restaurant i explored in KL, Sophia is quite unique due to variety of food. Its not limited to Arabic, they also have other non Arabic like khaomok Rice (Thai), and Indian dish. Maybe the restaurant theme is fusion. I am not sure.
All in all, dishes i tried were all good. The place is nice. Toilet is clean. Prayer space is comfortable.
I wish for Sophia continuous success in serving good and delicious food to people.
Based on the 'opening day' photo in the review, i think they are celebrating their anniversary soon this August. All the best and keep...
Read moreI came with my family and personally ordered a plate of lamb mandi and a bowl of mushroom soup. I'm happy to say that both were good.
However, I have a problem with the service. My mum had booked a table through WhatsApp, but the language used by the person on the other side was quite confusing. When we arrived, we were directed to the wrong table. The table we were supposed to sit at was on the second floor. When we got upstairs, we were hit by a foul odor, which I suspect was coming from the floor. Because of that, I have to deduct a star for atmosphere, even though the decor was quite nice.
Another issue I had was your refusal to serve me hot water. You clearly have hot drinks on the menu, so providing a glass of hot water should be standard. No, I didn’t want room temperature or cold bottled water. I wanted hot water. I had to request it three times before a waiter, on his own initiative, brought me a glass. I was grateful to him, but this is ridiculous....
