Visited several times, this famously endorsed Halal seafood restaurant located at the seaside area of Kuala Perlis has always been a local favourite for those living at the very north of Malaysia, that includes us!
Hai Thien always had spectacular seafood and today's visit was no different. Not only you are getting extremely good prices for the portions and taste, but you are getting a seaside view that is amazing 😍.
Onto the details, the sweet sour crab, fresh steam sotong, crab meat tofu, Kacang botol, signature fried rice were fantastic all around, it's served hot and fresh with ample flavours from the broth and ingredients 😋. However, the oyster egg was a letdown as it tasted more like a sirloin pancake, definitely avoid ordering that.
There is also a long standing satay shop that has accompanied the restaurant for many years, their satay is famous around these parts and it's understandable why, it's soft, juicy and fragrant!
The scenery as mentioned before is nice, you get a seaside view on the outer parts of the restaurant and it's especially beautiful during sunset! 🌆
The service staff are also friendly and accurate with their orders as well as specifications. Although it takes a while for the food to come due to the sheer amount of customers the shop attracts even in a small town like Kuala Perlis.
Overall, a fantastic seaside restaurant and a must visit for those coming to Kuala Perlis.

Read moreThe go to seafood restaurant in Kuala Perlis. It's located at a strategic place near the seaside. It about 300-400 meters from Kuala Perlis jetty. I've been patronising this restaurant over 25 years... before they moved to current location, it was located on a wooden platform not far from Kuala Perlis jetty. (In between the jetty and LKIM)
Eventime when I am back to Kuala Perlis; my in-laws will treat me dinner at this restaurant. The foods were deliciously good. Especially when they were in the previous location. Over the years the oroginal cook has retired and new cook took over. It was still nice then until around 5 years back. The taste no longer as good. E.g food taste more sugary and I gets thirsty after meals. Possible the over use of MSG. My favourite was sea catfish asam fried with dried chilies(the thick gravy dish). Last I had the soury was more like from vinegar.(acid ascetic). Ikan 3 rasa (3 flavour fish I.e. sweet, sour salty)was also disappointing the last visit. Basically I can't remembered much as the foods was so so... oh the price also have move up one one notch too.
There is a Satay An(Satay is skewed & grilled meat) stall that has moved from the previous location togather with restaurant there to the currentocarion. The Satay still as...

Here's the breakdown :
LOCATION Near to the Beach and easy to find.
AMBIANCE Very simple and easy going restaurant, the typical average seafood restaurant with a simple layout. Cleanliness is acceptable. Toilets are clean.
SERVICE Service was fast like really fast, we waited no longer than 15mins for all the food that we ordered. 8 dishes in total. Staff was efficient and friendly. Very attentive to all of our request.
WAIT TIME Usually 30-45mins, before you get a table. Be patient as it is worth the wait.
F&B QUALITY I'd say it's pretty good and tasty. 8 out of 10. We liked the soft shell crab the most and the udang lipan cili kering. That was really really good. The drinks are freshly made, we had the ambra asam boi. Delish.
PRICE This is what surprised me the most. For all the 8 dishes we ordered, we expected the bill to come at around RM500 plus, as that is the usual. But it came to only RM250. Walauwei.
CONCLUSION If you're looking for a GOOD and CHEAP seafood restaurant, this restaurant ticks all the boxes. Definitely worth the wait and visit. You will not disappoint. Highly recommended. I've also post the menu for your...
