Slow to cook, it is pricy for this kind of set-up, hot and uncomfortable, and the food ain't even that nice. Do yourself a favour and use HonestBee, Grab Food, Food Panda or DeliverEat (they always have a lot of promos), and eat in the comfort of your own home. If you really want to eat some local type western in this area, the corner shop behind this is more nostalgic, has nice coffee, and you will also get your food a lot faster.
The is also western food stall in the nearby Selera Wawasan food court at night, but I have never tried it. You could also just have a burger at the famous food truck guy here on the 7/11 row. If you are willing to drive a little further or better yet are coming from that direction, Uptown Damansara has a few local western stalls in it's night food court, with the better ones being Yazid and Steven's corner. Steven's has a pretty good pork-free halal mee at their goreng shop on the same row as the famous Teluk Intan Yong Tau Fu.
The food quality and taste in the whole area has mostly dropped, and there have been a lot of snatch thefts, car break-ins and accidents involving motorcycles and cars in this area too. Overall, not a nice place to be in any longer, and I do my business and eat at nearby areas instead.
During the day, Pandian's over at the medan selera food court next to the padang/field, and several other stalls in it are pretty good for a quick meal, not a place to stay long. Chetties is a better place for a longer drink/chat, in a aircond environment, and the food is alright. At night, several Chinese restaurants on the row behind Restaurant 33 like Double Joy and Sam Yu, are not bad, but can be pricy(don't order fish and seafood to keep prices down), and a little dirty and noisy. The Rawang dishes shop on this row is alright, and the corner shop facing this has some decent options you could check out, depending on what time in the...
Read moreI had a laugh at the negative reviews of this place. Formerly known as Michael's, the USP here is the Hainanese sauce chicken chop. If you're having anything else then you have no idea about the origins of this place.
I've been roaming Klang Valley for Hainanese sauce chicken chops that doesn't taste like the cook poured ketchup all over it. Michael's is one of the handful of places that use a proper chicken broth base, and not just ketchup. My favourite is still Yut Kee but it's too far a drive for me usually.
You guys are right: the grilled/black pepper sauce etc are definitely not worth the 1hr wait. I totally agree: there would be a dozen / 100 other places that serve the same thing and won't require you to wait this long.
Pro-tip: I usually order, take my order cup then saunter to Siong Pin for other food (mee Jawa goreng is my fav) before coming back, if I see that I'm going to wait a bit. You can just ask the bro at the counter nicely: you can also usually tell by how many written orders there are.
So do the right thing: Hainan sauce at Michael's or bust.
EDIT: I did stop coming here for a while but recently returned. Two chicken chop dinners in three days, and the Hainanese chicken chop sauce was on point. Michael's wife has taken over full-time, so props to her for keeping his awesome...
Read moreBeen coming here with my family since I was 3 years old as my mum said I loved the Mexican chicken here back then. Now I am 25 and still occasionally come here to take away dinner for me and my family whenever I pass by this area. I usually add a sausage to my portion of Mexican chicken so that is an additional charge of RM 1.50 for that (not sure if prices have changed since my visit a few months back) Staff are all pretty friendly, they have a self-collecting system now. Be prepared to wait a while as they prepare everything from scratch upon order except for the sauce but it’s worth the wait. Good food, service & ambience for the price you pay. I have been a loyal customer here for 22 years now so this place is pretty nostalgic to me. One thing on the menu that they used to have and I wish they could bring back is their lamb stew, it was the one dish we used to always order as appetizers it was...
