Name: Chengjing Steamfish Opening hours: 6-9pm Tuesdays closed As popularised by the FB group the Makan Club, we made it here for dinner finally. Simple settings (at the food court of our regular roti place that we have been frequently patronising) this fairly new place that opened almost a month ago and have been creating a buzz and attracting many customers of late. The owners were nice, chatty and friendly telling us they will start cooking our orders at 6pm as they would hv to get their kitchen steamers ready & fired up n going. We waited about 20-25 mins for our dishes to be served. The menu is rather limited due to the size of their kitchen. Had their cheong jing soong yue, steamed lala in superior broth and blanched yau mak. Rice was served in a bucket container. Loved the aroma and taste of the fish; the sauce was tasty & the fish was fresh. The clams were fresh too and you could slurp the gravy that came with it. The veggie was ok; simple way of preparing it. The owner reminded us that they are not a tai chow business but just a couple ex corporate people who came together for the love of steamed fish / seafood to open this business. The seafood as mentioned comes a reputable seller so be rest assured the freshness. PS: Kindly make your payment upon ordering in order for you to be in the queue for your food. Online payment preferred 👍🏼 Since with our current weather, it could be hot whilst dining there. Just be prepared to...
Read moreSearch for Curry Laksa but fall in love with Fried Hokkien Mee. I saw a Fried Hokkien Mee stall next to Auntie Ling's Nyonya Cendol and it was very quiet and no one ordered. I decided to give it a try. The service was fast, big portion and came with 3pcs of fresh small prawn, some pork slices, pork lard and cabbages. The overall taste was nice and sambal was spot on too. But, the Wok Hei not so stood out. However, it is still acceptable for RM9. I then chatted with the old uncle who served me, he told me that the cook was from Ipoh and been selling Fried Hokkien Mee in Jinjang for so many years before shifted to this Medan Selera. His stall named is Hau Yeh and also accept orders for Roasted Duck with minimum 4 birds per order at RM72 each. They also sell Hong Kong style 艇仔粥 (Sampan Congee or Boat Congee) and fresh ingredients will be cooked inside the porridge when ordered. This Hokkien Mee seller said the rental was slightly cheaper at Medan Selera, therefore he can sell at RM9 and give slightly bigger portion. I think nowadays, many food sellers are charging quite expensive, hence as customer we need to spend wisely on food that are worth eating. Next time, if I go to Medan Selera Wawasan, I will eat this Hokkien Mee again and try his porridge. I will also try the Indian mixed rice just next to this Hokkien Mee stall. This stall only sell Hokkien Mee and...
Read moreA relatively new eatery here which is located at one end of the Selera Wawasan in SS3, run by a friendly gent named Azlan and his partner, a gorgeous lady, Shaz. The restaurant's staple is Nasi Lemak or if you prefer another dish instead of NS, there is Lontong (and also Western style breakfast with toast). Prices start from RM5 per helping onwards, depending on whether you want to add chicken, sambal sotong etc. The quality of the food is very good, prepared as it with love & respect. Both the owners serve with a smile -- genuine not fake one! -- and readily engage into a conversation with their customers when they are free. The drinks from a dispenser are free. During the weekends, they add other dishes like pasta, sup kambing and so on. The crowd is multi-ethnic and muhibbah. Very Malaysian indeed! I just love this place. They are opened for breakfast and close at 2.30pm. Highly...
