Went for dinner at the unlikeliest place at Damansara Uptown for quite a unique hotpot.
Tucked between the Hokkien mee's of Uptown is 1 The Chicken Pot and on the table today is Dakhanmari (RM80) and Honey Soy Chicken Wings (RM25). So if you don't already know, this is a 1 chicken pot with cabbage, tteokbokki, spring onions, garlic and potatoes simmering in chicken broth. It comes with noodles at the end, with rice balls or porridge.
Writing this already sounds like quite a homely meal, the broth isn't strong but has peppery notes to it. For an added kick, you can dunk in the kimchi. I'm guessing that they are using free range chickens and for good measure as well due to minimal fat under the skin. It's largely a healthy meal until you order their deep fried whole chicken which I didn't.
The noodles at the end goes really well with the dipping sauce, just dunk and soak them in. There is no wheaty feel but they retain their spring. If you can stomach the last bit of rice ball, you have my respect because I gave up and did not even try. Mind wants to but stomach says no.
The honey soy chicken is good, like really good kind of good. Tender and caramelized crispy outer skin. Biting into this was like falling in love for the first time, you never want it to stop then you reach the last piece like a breakup that you can't get why it's your last piece. This is the dish I would come back for.
Overall this was a very unique Korean experience from the usual charcoal bbq and grilling meats. Don't know if they use pork in their prep but everything is chicken even until you reach back home, the chicken emanates.
Tip: Parking at Uptown can be horrendous, so park at Starling mall, show them your ticket and they will reimburse you.

Read moreDefinitely worth the price you pay! They have a limited menu, but whatever you order is sure to be good. For those who love chicken feet, give their specialty here a try. My own personal favourite were the riceballs - a mixture of seaweed, something pickled, and had ebiko on top too. My brothers loved the honey soy chicken and finished a whole plate of it on their own.
I had dinner here on a normal working Monday night and it was surprisingly packed! Do make a booking if you're heading over, will save you the wait. Only downside is that service was a little slow, but I think it's due to the small number of staff at the store.
Will definitely go back...
