This is an amazing place for evening Cantonese dessert called Tong Sui, literally meaning “Sugar Water”. Not the soft drink type of sugar of course, but food with “body cooling” properties cooked for long hours in rock sugar.
The place is crowded with about a dozen stalls selling simple individual meals. Ventilation is excellent with the new type of giant fans. Realised that the tables are not shared, but owned by individual stalls. Luckily the Indian stall lady boss was kind to let me sit even though I can’t order another dish any more (just had dinner!).
What’s amazing is that the prices for each bowl of tong sui are all kept below RM3! Furthermore patrons can scoop whatever they like from the pots, with as much ingredients as they like. The friendly boss is helpful to give advice on which tong sui is good for which part of the body (e.g. the one I took is good for lungs and cough). This stall is truly Malaysia with Malay, Chinese and Indian all working together.
Also ordered a Hakka noodle from another stall even though I just had dinner!
Love this place. Will be back with an empty tank...
Read moreI went with bro , hoping enjoy some good dessert which it was nice in many years ago .
Very disappointing the taste of my bowl of ginkgo white fungas was really bad and tasteless . It was like something recycle or re-cooked from yesterday .
Will not go again in my entire life ! As lousy dessert and rude operator ...when i saw and asked whether i could comment something , the old fat man sitting in front of bowls (may be he is the boss!) .he said okay then i commented : uncle , you should put on mask at least , to avoid your saliva spread on bowls while you talk to customers ....then i took the third bowl in the row (dare not use the first on top !) . Quickly he said angrily : how could you said this ??? Then i said i meant good for everyone ...his face turned green and i quickly took my bowl of dessert and left ...
Very rude and unhygienic way to serve customers !
Poor customers ,do you realised how much saliva of the old fat man gave freely...
Read moreSUCH A RUDE STALL OWNER.
I had a very unpleasant experience dining at this hawker centre. Apparently, each stall owner “owns” specific chairs that are scattered across various tables, but there are no signboards or labels to inform customers of this peculiar rule. There’s also no indication on the chairs themselves that they are reserved for certain stalls.
While I was halfway through my meal, the owner of the Chinese dessert (tong sui) stall abruptly approached me and insisted that I vacate the chair, claiming I had no right to sit there since I didn’t order from his stall. I explained that there was no signage or clear notice to indicate this rule, and I found his manner rude and unnecessarily confrontational.
Had he spoken to me politely, I would have understood. But his attitude completely ruined the dining experience for me. I won’t be returning to this place again.
Also, the tongsui is just mediocre. Nothing to...
