Essentially a covered food court for different hawkers. For those who like Penang style Prawn curry mee, there have been raved reviews of one of the stalls here. Personally am not a fan of the dish, so i won't review the stall. However, i have become a new fan of the Ipoh Hor Fun here. For RM8 for a small bowl, i think it is bang for buck. The 4 prawns were crunchy and slid of the tail shell upon biting it. The chicken strips tasted "sweet", the taste you get from freshly slaughtered chicken. They had tiny dumplings with just the right amount of meat and oodles of noodles, even when i ordered a small size. The soup was not overloaded with msg and loved that it tasted "light". For those interested in msg soup disguised as Ipoh Hor Fun noodles, stay away. For those interested in light, sweet almost fully naturally flavoured broth, then i would suggest you give this stall a try.
Drinks here not really anything to rave about....
Read moreSo I was here because many said the Penang Har Mee (HM) is good and decided to come and give it a try. I even ordered the Penang Koay Teow Thng (KTT) which the same stall offered.
HM - I felt that the broth was too sweet and lack of the prawn umami flavour. Even after adding in a full saucer plate of their chili paste which supposedly to give extra flavour to the soup, extra spiciness was all I get. The pork slices, little prawns and kang kung was fresh and the bowl was generously filled with it. Not too satisfying.
KTT - This was more acceptable compared to the earlier HM. The broth was light and sweet, and with "chu yau char" added into the soup, makes the flavour even better. This bowl has generous amount of shredded chicken meat, shredded duck meat, slices of fish cakes and 2 fish balls (however there were more of shredded chicken than duck - I would prefer more of...
Read moreThe prawn noodle soup was a tad too sweet for my personal taste preference - still it was definitely delicious. The wanton mee came without chilli sauce and I was a little skeptical at first but it was quite tasty - the noodles al dente with good eggy fragrance. On the way out, I bought a siew pow 烧包 from the kuih kuih pastry stall for M$2 a pop, it was more expensive than Empayar's (M$1.60 each) but surprise surprise... This one tasted freshly made because it was I suspected just out of the oven! The pastry was more flaky and the meaty filling moist, sweet (again too sweet for my taste but I still liked it) and savoury. Definitely better than Empayar Seremban Siew Pow (芙蓉烧包城). Sorry no pic of siew pow. Next time I will dabao siew pow from here rather than at Empayar's if bringing them back to Singapore as...
