I had a total of 11 people with me for dinner at Esquire Kitchen @ Tropicana City Mall. The servers are mainly local Chinese and Philippino foreigners.
I ordered many small/personal dishes because I had a table full of foreigners. The manager/captain of the store came over to me later and told me that what I've ordered is not enough for 12 people. She then wanted to change on the order sheet for 1 of our dishes into a bigger portion, in which I declined right away. She insisted and I had to raise my voice to tell her that we will stick to what we've ordered and add on later if necessary.
We ordered 2 large bowls of fuzhou fish ball soup, together with a small bowl of dumpling soup. At first, only the dumpling soup and a small bowl of fish ball soup were served to us. I had a row with the servers as they insisted that I ordered the small (standard) bowl at first, and after checking they later told me the other rest will be served later. In the end, only 3 small bowls of fish ball soup were served, and I spoke to the person who took my order again, wanting to cancel the last bowl since it was taking forever. They insisted that they have served 4 bowls, and refused to back down (we believe that they have mistaken the dumpling soup as one of the bowls, but we couldn't prove anything because the empty bowls were taken away).
Esquire kitchen was the place to go for good and authentic Chinese cuisine and I have been a frequent customer with my family since young.
But after this experience, I've decided that it's better to avoid this restaurant in future, as I feel that they just want to take advantage of customers who come in...

Morning I went for a siu pau and curry puff. Came back home, was having siu pau and it had gone bad. Evening when I was passing by the shop I went to inform them about this. The manager, an old lady wearing specs spoke in a way I found insulting, as if she was not believing what I'm saying. She asked for the "evidence", and kept saying multiple times "next time please bring so we can check". It's a RM3.20 snack and I could have cared less.
They did give me replacement but the old woman was murmuring something in Chinese to another employee. So altogether I felt bad that I even went there. I don't think this is how you make your customer feel.
Anyways to their fairness they did give another one, and I also came back home, went back to the shop to give "evidence", which is the half of old siu pao from my morning take away which went bad.
Bottom line is, I'm never going to this shop again purely based on how they made me feel.
That's my...
Read moreFirst time dined in here with family by today on 19/4/2024. Was greeted by the foreign staff. Ushered to the table we like. Friendly staff. Unfortunately this branch isn't as flexible as the other branch that I used to dine in as we can order for ala carte spring and onion Chicken rice or Kong Po chicken rice as we like. They have limited options for ala cart for rice tho. Therefore we chose to eat the package for nett RM92 that comes with few options to choose. We managed to choose 3 dishes that comes with a soup of the day and 3 bowls of rice. I have to admit the foods were really good. The taste of esquire kitchen has never been disappointed. The soya bean was also very yummy and not sweet. Just suit my taste. We ended up order some to take away. Recommended. Hope they can be more flexible for their...
