Can't say that Kingdom Palace is my canteen - I've been coming here regularly since their Grand Kingdom days. However, this restaurant is certainly one of the places that I would consider if I want to eat fine Chinese foods. What's not to like about this place? Consistent foods and service are always a determining factor of revisit a particular restaurant.
I would always call up ahead to reserve a table as this restaurant is very popular during weekend. All the staffs have been trained well to take orders. This is a list spanning 3 times that I came here for meal.
Dim Sum session: ◾siew mai, loh mai kai, polo bun (with thick slab of butter) ◾fried fish skin with salted egg yolk ◾Braised pork tendon ◾Roasted pork belly - gotta say that this is the better ones I had.
Dinner: ◾HK runny century egg with ginger - seriously I'm not a fan of century eggs but those who ate gave this dish thumb up. Better than the local variety. ◾Grilled Iberico pork ribs with sea salt & spices - nothing beats a simply preparation of this ribs. It was on promotion for RM88 per slab (normally almost double the price). ◾Steamed dragon tiger grouper - steamed to perfection resulting in flaky meat. ◾sauteed baby spinach with soy bean dregs - I didn't know how they managed to make the dregs crispy reminiscing dried shrimp texture but it was oh-so-good to go with the vegetable. ◾hot & sour thick soup - something hot to whet up the appetite. ◾Barbeque two combinations - siew yuk & roasted duck... Something fast to chew on while waiting for the other dishes to be served. Both are good. ◾braised pork belly with buns - lovely pork belly with killer sauce but some might say that the fat layer is too thick (I love fats) ◾fisherman's fried rice - a favourite of the small ones where they served the fried rice in huge bamboo basket covered with aluminium foil with the fresh prawns on top. The rice has the fragrant from the...
Read moreWe came back because we absolutely love the dim sum and service then. Fast forward to Father's Day where my dad hand picked this place to celebrate the occasion. When we arrived, the waitress immediately 'warned' us that they will be prioritising the set dinners instead of ala-cartes and there are only limited dishes available. We were ok with that. Little did we know, we should have heed her forewarning. The dishes that day was mediocre but worst of all was the treatment given to my baby. A chair without seat belts were given and when we asked for one, the captain, Gloria Eng assured us that the seat belts in ALL BABY CHAIRS are spoilt. We trusted her and continued our dinner while my baby was feeling very restless and stressed throughout. I had no choice but to use my own pants belt to strap her down. Suddenly we noticed there was a PERFECTLY FINE baby chair with seat belts placed at another table behind us. I immediately requested for Gloria and she quickly offered to change it with that table, but as expected they also need it. Again, our request was ignored. My dad who was supposed to be enjoying his dinner ended up taking turns to help me take care of my baby until another waitress offered to find a new chair. And surprisingly, there was one available. It was obvious that Gloria DIDN'T MAKE any effort to help at all. We were thoroughly disappointed with the treatment and all she did was gave a cursory apology. The entire evening was completely ruined because of this experience. Set dinner or not, we are all customers, please do not give us substandard services please. No more Kingdom...
Read moreFood: The food at Kingdom Palace Restaurant for a wedding luncheon experience was moderate overall. While some dishes stood out, like the (which was unfortunately not captured in photos), most were just okay. A major downside was that many dishes arrived lukewarm, impacting the overall enjoyment. Here's a breakdown of the dishes I experienced: Four Season Starter: very obvious is a ready made process food. Soup: it was delicious but sadly not pictured (too delicious that is why no picture) Roast Duck and Pork Ribs: both are delicious Grouper Steamed Fish, Abalone with Mushroom & Claypot Rice and Cauliflower: lukewarm is the downside, otherwise will be good. Lotus Sweet Dessert: just nice and not too sweet
Ambiance: The comfort level of the ambiance was a concern. If seated near the door area, it could be quite hot. This might be a point to consider for those planning a luncheon event.
Service: The service was inconsistent. While some aspects were good, others fell short. For example, a hostess took away my half-eaten bowl of rice while I was listening to the bride's speech, without checking if I was finished. This felt rushed and impersonal, especially for a celebratory event.
Overall: Kingdom Palace Restaurant might be a suitable option for larger events if you prioritize affordability over a truly exceptional dining experience. However, be mindful of potentially lukewarm food and ensure you're comfortable with the temperature near the entrance. Consider mentioning your seating preference when making a reservation for a...
