Revisited this famous and popular eatery in Sunway Mas Commercial Centre after a long long while and can confidently say that it still sells one of the best Hakka mee in town. And the charsiu that goes with it is as superb as always - tender, tasty with the right sweetness and roasted till melt-in-the-mouth.
Also nicknamed "professor's eatery" as Bill Khoon the owner-operator, holds two Master's degrees, Seremban Famous Favourites also serves other famous Seremban favourite food like bak chor mee and cuttlefish bihun.
What makes the Hakka mee served here authentic is the fact that it's stirred in fish sauce -- the perfect pairing. Can't understand why such an important feature of delicious Hakka noodle is blatantly and intentionally left out by most other Hakka mee vendors in the Klang Valley.
Despite the Hakka mee still being consistently top notch, the physical environment of the shop unfortunately has deteriorated with the passing years. Having been in business for almost two decades now, it's time for a refurbishment to bring back its former glory.
Toilet Score: Improvement needed.

Read moreA fellow foodie cousin spoke about this place and mentioned that the char sieu or barbecued pork loin is to-die-for piqued my interest enough to make my way over during one of the slower weekend mornings.
Parking around the area is challenging at best unless you're feeling really lucky and get lucky at the same time. Otherwise park a little further out and walk over. The unassuming facade of the shop's entrance makes it easy for many first timers to give the place a miss. It was a good idea to come around for an early brunch as the place was still not packed yet although you can see that there were many regulars tucking in or coming by to takeaway for lunch later. The orders were done up quite quickly without any fuss with my order of char sieu laden noodles looking really good.
Despite the innocuously underwhelming appearance of my bowl of Hakka lohsheefaan noodles, it was packed with flavour and had a really good umami factor between the minced pork and blanched rice noodles. The barbecued pork was the icing on the cake so to speak. I made a takeaway order of the same dish for some family members who decided to skip the weekend outing here. Highly...
Read moreRecently dropped by an old haunt of mine for a simple but delicious bowl of noodles for breakfast.
First, the noodles - it’s a rice flour noodle that is called “lou shi fun” in Cantonese. I’ve heard various English translations. The literal translation from Cantonese is “Rat’s Noodles” or more common in Malaysia, “Rat’s Tail Noodles”. The less common translation I have seen used is “silver needle noodle” (usually used in HK & Taiwan).
There is a dry soy sauce based mix at the bottom of the bowl which cannot be seen in the pic.
Toppings are minced pork and BBQ pork (Char Siew) along with some chopped spring onions.
Looks so simple but as a combination spooned into your mouth, the burst of flavours - salty, sweet, savoury & umami, just provides a mouthful of heaven on earth.
Yummilicious breakfast at Famous Seremban Favourites in SunwayMas Commercial Centre in Petaling Jaya (Malaysia).
Apologies for the simple pic… too hungry to mess about taking more pics....
