Mon dieu, quelle honte!

Let’s just say, if this establishment were a soufflé, it would have collapsed long before reaching the table.

As a self-proclaimed butter aficionado with a palate that knows its butter from its margarine and other butter imposters (ahem, real butter, thank you very much, we go around Bretagne buying baguettes just so we can slop artisan beurre all over it), my most recent visit was nothing short of a culinary betrayal.

Priced at a lofty RM15 for a back to basics waffle with french butter and syrup, one would reasonably expect a dollop of golden, creamy butter to grace the plate. Instead, what arrived was a sad, stubborn block of bright yellow margarine—a cheap imposter with its unmistakably artificial aroma and a melting point so high it could survive a summer in the Sahara - or in my case the entire dining 'experience'. Let’s be clear: margarine has no place in a gourmet waffle experience, especially when the menu explicitly promises French butter. French butter, mind you - the kind that is rich, cultured and practically a love letter to dairy itself. To serve margerine in its place is not just a culinary sin; its an affront to the essence of French gastronomy. I could literally picture chefs from Bretagne to Provence collectively shudder at the mere thought of this disgrace. Quelle horreur! I have ordered this dish several times before and don't remember it being like this. So... Was this a kitchen mishap? A cost-cutting maneuver? Or perhaps a misguided attempt to reinvent the wheel? Whatever the reason, it was an unforgivable misstep that left me pushing my plate away in disgust.

My partner’s Chip ‘n Dale fared no better, tasting as though it had lost its way somewhere between conception and execution and unworth of the Rm20+ price attached.

The only redeeming element of this otherwise dismal visit was the onde onde cake, which managed to salvage a shred of dignity from the wreckage. But let’s be honest—when the highlight of your meal is a dessert for which you just added on rather than the item the eatablishment is famed for, something has gone terribly wrong.

As someone who has frequented this establishment more than five times over the past year, I can confidently say that this visit was a stark departure from the standards I once admired. What was once a reliable destination for indulgent, buttery waffles has now become a cautionary tale of how cost-cutting and corner-cutting can ruin even the most beloved of dishes. Until they rediscover their commitment to quality, and accurate menu descriptions—and real butter—I’ll be taking my waffle cravings elsewhere. Consider this a breakup letter, signed with a margarine-stained napkin. The waffles served may still look golden, but the golden days of this joint has...

I think my visit might be a fluke, so please take my review with a pinch of salt.

I arrived on a Sunday about 5pm and managed to get a table instantly, which was awesome. I passed by earlier at 2.30pm and there was a large crowd of people waiting in line, so there's usually a wait here.

My order of waffles only came 30 minutes later, I guess maybe they were busy, or maybe they forgot my order, coz other people who came later than us got their orders first... :(

The other gripe was there was a fly that was disturbing my table and even landed on my food a couple of times.

The atmosphere was too warm, incredibly noisy and the seating arrangement was very cramped (towards the front of the shop). Not a great place if you're looking for a laid back place to have a lengthy chat with a friend.

Service wise, the staff wasn't rude but not friendly or warm either. I think they're tired from fighfing fires all day because there's just too many people who wants to try this place.

And lastly, the toilet facilities can be improved. The stall that I was in to be honest was a little smelly.

Food wise, we had the Winnie The Pooh waffle, which was one of their bestsellers. I recommend asking for the waffle to be crispy, it's pretty good. I personally found the ice cream they served it with (I think it was called Hokey Pokey) was a little to sweet for me, although it might be just that flavour that is supposed to be incredibly sweet.

So overall my first experience here fell a little bit short, even though the food was fine. I wouldn't mind coming back again to give it another fair try, although the long waiting time is kinda enough to deter me. Might just come back in 1-2 years time when the crowd has died down a bit.

If you're in the area and is looking for a laid back atmosphere with no queue and equally delicious, if not better waffles, I recommend to skip this and head to Softsrve just...

Our first visit on weekend, give it a try as we saw there's lot of people queueing and curious what they are selling, there's no menu outside.

We ordered the Lavender Blueberry ice cream, Passions Coconut Cake, and Iced Long Black. However, the cake was "confiscated" and swapped with Mango cake because they claimed the cake isn't up to their standard today, staffs and the chad boss himself are very polite when serving us.

Personally I don't really prefer the ice cream because the lavender taste like the essential oil at first but the taste grew weaker as it goes. Also the lavender flavour kinda overpowered the blueberry so I barely taste it.

The Mango cake, hmmm. It is fluffed, but the trade-off is that the cake is quite dry, and it used tons of whipping cream tryna add volume to it. Mango taste good for me, they mentioned it's Ai Wen Mango on their social media. But it doesn't taste fresh, seems like too much preserves for me (look at the shiny coating on the mango). But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Long Black is the bomb and the reason we will be back for. Not an expert on this so can't tell what bean they are using. It tastes acidic but just right with little bitterness, body is so kaw, so satisfying, so smooth, with one sweet bite of dessert and another sip of chilly long black to refresh your mouth. Perfection.

We like the ambience Fluffed provides BUT the spaces is limited so whenever everyone speaks, it's so noisy and kinda defeat the purpose of chilling at cafe (at least in my definition).

Seems like there's only one barista so serving time can be long especially on crowded weekends. Will come back for other stuff and their coffee but definitely...
