NASI SEDAP TAPI ADA SATU KAKAK SUKA EMO
Ilham Nasi Kukus is my daily stop because the food is very tasty and the price is good. They only sell one main dish, fried chicken nasi kukus, with an option to add chicken liver. The set comes with steamed rice, fried chicken, sauce, and a slice of pineapple. The chicken is crispy and full of spices, the sauce is rich, and the pineapple gives a nice kick. Drinks are also strong and good.
Service depends on who serves you. Usually the staff will ask customers to line up in two rows. There is one young man who is always kind, he adds chicken crumbs to the rice if I ask and lets me choose the chicken part I want. But sometimes I meet one kakak who is always in a bad mood. She refuses small requests, says “cannot” to everything, and talks in a rude way. Even other customers have noticed this. Staff are polite overall but they really need better training.
Food quality is very good. The fried chicken is always tasty and the portion is enough. Price is around RM9 per set which is very fair. My only complaint is the pineapple slice still has the rough “mata” part which should be removed.
The place is a simple Malaysian gerai style, cosy but nothing fancy. Parking is in the shoplot outside. It is often full but with patience you can find a spot. During early lunch time the queue is long, and if someone orders many packs the wait can be even longer.
Operating hours can be checked online.
Tips for visitors: come early, expect a queue, and hope you get served by the friendly young man instead of the kakak.
Be prepared for a long queue, especially during lunch hours. Although the rice is prepped in advance, the waiting time can get significantly longer when someone orders in bulk.
Suggestion for improvement: It would be great if they could provide a separate queue for bulk orders (more than 4 portions) to keep things flowing smoothly...

Nasi kukus ayam - chicken is dry, very dry and bland. Sambal Ilham is tasty for an extra RM1, could’ve been bigger pack (ikan bills) rice is nice, I like them steamed. Gravy and sambal is 👍🏼 remember to ask for more sambal. It will help with the dry chicken.
Hati - nice but just as dry.
Keropok - nice and fresh. Doubt that it’s made by them though.
Coconut shake - nothing to shout about .. 50% crushed ice.
Place is packed without AC. Parking is hard to come by. Queue and wait for your turn. You can feel the heat when you’re near the frying station. Order what you want and grab a tray to your right. Then queue for drinks. You even have to queue to pay. 🤦🏻♂️ The cashier will help clear the tables after each payment. So the queuing time will be longer. I queued to pay as soon as I got my food and drinks .. she’s always busy. So I asked her can I pay after I finished my meal, she said yes.
After eating, guess what? Queued again to pay. 🤷🏻♂️
Will never return… nothing to...
