Would not go back for dinner but bearing in mind this may be more of a brunch spot.
Came for dinner and found the place to be almost empty (2 tables seated in total including us). Servers weren’t attentive, slow and started to be avoidant as the meal went on. Ambience and atmosphere was great, comfortable and clean. However, food was far from good.
Sourdough with konbu butter - Bread was lightly toasted and had a nice crunch. Sourdough flavor came through and konbu butter tasted great.
Cauliflower tempura - extremely oily, can barely taste the cauliflower and the batter tasted like nothing at all. Sriracha mayo was a nice kick but just didn’t go well with the dish.
Salman bowl - too much greens which just overpowered one and another and the texture was off putting. Salmon was tiny and wasn’t seasoned well.
Seared chicken with sauce diane - this took 30 minutes to arrive (which is crazy since there were only 2 tables) and honestly just tasted very average. Mash potatoes was a little lumpy and chicken wasn’t seasoned well and lacked any flavor. The light batter on it was off putting and stale. The sauce saved much of the dish but in totality, was not...
Read moreOnce in a while, I'd drive to Mutiara Damansara to feast on my favourite nasi kukus or have a good burger. There is a building on the left leading to the shop lots before that. I'd noticed a glass structure and my curiosity prompted me to do a quick check.
It was early in the morning and we were the first to arrive at the doorstep of Flat 18. The interior was brightened by the morning sunlight, and the furnitures were arranged in a systematic manner.
◾Grilled Corn Ribs with Red Pepper Hummus RM23 was polished in no time by the hungry princess who's a fan of grilled corn, and the red pepper hummus provided an added flavour and creaminess texture to it. ◾Salmon Scramble & Toast RM32 - Smoked salmon, scrambled eggs on sourdough with homemade spicy hollandaise, topped with rocket. The hollandaise was not that spicy (kid friendly) and I love the consistency of the scrambled egg - still runny without being over-cooked - laid on top of the sourdough. ◾Flat White RM13.50 - the milk tasted stronger than the coffee itself.
All in all we love the food but coffee needs improvements.. because best of both worlds is...

Flat 18 is an excellent spot for date night or a small group dinner. The place is easy to spot, and parking is quite easy as there aren't many restaurants around. We made a reservation for our dinner and managed to park right in front of the restaurant. Walking into the space you are immediately greeted by the staff and brought to your table. With it's glass exterior, you get a nice natural vibe, and the lighting is just nice for a slow evening.
We ordered the miso butter pasta and the lamb. The pasta was made extremely well, nice amount of fat combined with the saltiness of the miso. The meat was also done just right, and the puree which is likely a mixture of pumpkin with carrot was made so well we did not have any left on the plate.
For the dessert, we ordered the tiramisu and was not disappointed. It hits all the right notes, with a hint of the alcohol taste.
Overall the price was around 150+ for a date night, and will definitely be back again to try out other stuff on the menu. Shout out to the FOH staff as they were attentive and took care of each...
