We visited this restaurant for Sunday morning breakfast, finding ample parking available. The restaurant occupies two shop lots and, while a bit dated, it maintains a clean and airy ambiance with numerous ceiling fans. The service was efficient, and our food arrived promptly.
Our order included Fried Ma Yau Fish Head Meehoon 炸马友鱼头米粉 (RM14.50), Fried Fish Fillet Meehoon 炸鱼片米粉 (RM15.70), Curry Fried Fish Fillet Meehoon 咖喱炸鱼片米粉 (RM17.50), Crispy Fish Skin 炸鱼皮(RM10.00), and Fried Fish Cake 炸鱼饼 (RM8.00). The total bill amounted to RM65.70 for three people, excluding beverages.
The Fried Ma Yau Fish Head Meehoon and Fried Fish Fillet Meehoon were satisfactory, featuring a tomato-based broth. Those who enjoy tomato flavors will appreciate this, although we would have preferred a slightly stronger ginger and wine infusion. The Curry Fried Fish Fillet Meehoon also tasted quite good. The Fried Fish Cake was average. In sum, the food was decent.
The kitchen is predominantly staffed by foreigners, though most of them wear face masks, but not head coverings or gloves. It would be beneficial if they could raise their cleanliness standards. We might consider returning if we find ourselves in...
Read moreOverall experience: Soon Soon Pan Mee & Fish Head is a well-known spot for fish head noodles and pan mee. The place is always buzzing with people, and it gets very packed during peak hours, showing how popular it is.
Food: The fish head noodle with milk was delicious, with a creamy soup base and a light tang from the tomatoes that made it refreshing. The fried fish was tasty and paired well with the broth. I ordered the thick meehoon (with a small extra cost), and it was totally worth it—the noodles were so smooth and matched perfectly with the soup. It’s a simple but very satisfying bowl.
Service: Ordering could be done through a QR code once you’re seated, which makes it easy or the traditional table ordering. Despite the crowd, food came out quite fast and the staff handled everything efficiently. The only downside is the payment method—cashless is only via bank transfer, not e-wallet or DuitNow, which is less convenient.
Cost: Prices are reasonable, with noodle dishes mostly between RM11.50 to RM19.50, and drinks from RM2.50 onwards. For the portion and quality,...
Read moreBeen hearing about their fish head noodle and highly recommended by a friend. However when I went to try …to my disappointed, the portion was small more like a snack and as you can see frm the pic they gave only bones and barely any fish flesh whereas looking across other tables I saw many having the same thing but in contrast flesh more than bones. Guess I was just the “unlucky” one. Lolxz..The soup was very good and can taste the blend of tomato into the broth. Had the fish cake also and it’s very generic tasting and nothing special to shout about so don’t even bother trying it if you’re tempted. Btw cash only terms restaurant at this day and age is kinda inconvenient so be ready with cash or you’ll need to bank into their bank acct. In conclusion love the soup not the portions and serving. Will come back another time to give it one...
