So far one of the bestt ikan patin tempoyak i ever had! Freshness of the fish is important but the taste of the kuah is to me the key which in this case - i love it. Not too pedas, not too sweet, not too sour but just nice (can slurrpp). Top it up with cili kicap which i made myslef mine you - it was delicious. Todays meal - my sister tapau the ikan patin - im pretty sure its the sangkar one as thats cheaper than the buah one lol she had her meal there which had much other lauk and sayur varieities as well to those who doesnt take ikan patin tempoyak - me included. Few years back my sister and bro in law brought me there, tried theirs (initially they didnt wanna share, i said let me just have a quick taste and the rest was history lol) Love also their kuih koci. Recommended P/s: last time i went there they cashier (maybe the owner) wasnt really that friendly but who cares if the food is good

The food is fresh and tasty. Authentic Malay. But the owner/lady cashier is super rude and they charge super expensive for a casual restaurant ambience. I took my parents today and was again very disappointed because of the way the owner/lady cashier spoke to them. An average plate of rice with about 3 dishes is easily RM20. For local market price its way above average and there's nothing special. So because of the very poor customer service by the owner/lady cashier there and high price I wouldn't recommend it to others. But if you are really desperate for Malay food, this place is good.

let's talk about food first, as a patin tempoyak lover this is not the best can get, there is more better, first is bid, second is not spicy and too sweet, third is they are using so much msg my throat itchy. nasi putih ok and sambal belacan too smelly maybe they put too much belacan about the price yes it is overprice, ikan patin liar RM100+ per bowl (per 1 bahagian), for me its okay if sedap but its tak sedap so i kinda regret eat there, what can do i already ate. the environment of kedai not so clean and hygiene, there is stain at floor and area self service food.

Food is good but not worth being ripped off and lied to. Portion is big but only because they overcharge you discretely and owner is very arrogant.

Very very bad experience with their service. They charge customers exorbitant amount without even telling you upfront.

Happened to me once, owner apologised so I let it slide. Then today again.

First time: Ordered sayur lemak and the sayur came with one whole Ikan Keli. Also ordered kerabu for 1 pax, was sent 1 whole pack for 3-4 pax. Also ordered 2x Ikan patin tempoyak and 1x patin berlado. Since the patin tempoyak came in slices, I assumed the same for patin berlado. Ended up with one whole fish that was huge.

Got charged RM120 after everything was delivered. No order confirmation before delivery. No bill before delivery. They sent without even telling me, I got a notification from Grab out of nowhere.

Asked the owner why I got the Ikan Keli when I didn’t even order. She said “sorry, today sayur is together with Keli”

Second time today: Ordered 1x Ikan Keli and 3xKoci. On top of that, 3 ikan patin tempoyak and 1/2 patin berlado. Carefully mentioned to owner I am ordering for 3pax so the portion should not be big.

Received 2 Ikan Keli and 12pieces of koci.

When clarified, owner said they sell the fish in pairs (first time hearing this in my life).

Got charged RM135 after everything delivered. Again, no order confirmation before delivery. No bill before delivery. They sent without even telling me, I got a notification from Grab out of nowhere.

I posted my experience on Instagram to share with friends as I usually share both good and bad experience. Got a DM from the official account of the restaurant.

Owner was very passive aggressive and sent me DM to say they do not want my money. 3 minutes later, she unsent the message, so of course I paid my bill.

Never again will I...

Cannot recommend this place. Price is excessively high for the quality of food and service and not to mention the cleanliness of the restaurant.

Price aside. I don't mind paying for good food. But a number of things happened during my visit to this restaurant.

  1. Rice ran out. Customers had to wait for them to replenish which was quite long. Poor planning.

  2. Waiter purposely feed lies. Yes LIES. Wanted to order drinks. Waiter said 2 jugs is enough for my family of 5 adults. I wanted just 1 jug. He insisted we take 2 since the jug is small. When the drinks arrived it was 2 huge jugs. We couldn't finish even 1. Mind you 1 jug is RM10-RM15.

  3. Now moving on to food. Asked about the udang galah menu which was pictured on the walls. (This restaurant doesn't even have menus) . Waiter said there is usually around 5 udang galah in the plate. each udang is around RM20. I said ok. Order came and there were 10 pieces. The udang itself cost my family RM200. Again. Waiter lied.

  4. Ordered some fish as well. The udang and fish came almost immediately after we were done ordering. I was too hungry to think of why it came so fast. I thought maybe it was cooked together with the other dishes which was on the self-service line. We couldn't finish the udang so we packed them and brought it home, kept them in the fridge. Fast forward a few hours and i was ready to heat them up. Opened the container and it has already smelled horrible. In hindsight i just realized they must have cooked the fish and prawn hoursss before we came!!

TLDR This restaurant is all hype and zero substance. If the owner sees this hope you guys strive to be better. My family won't be visiting this place anymore. Our first...

I used to be a frequent customer of this Mutiara Damansara branch, in fact from the era when their business first started many years ago. The quality of food has deteriorated so badly, the price has become way too exorbitant which any right thinking person (even with deep pockets) would question the price charged vs the food on their plate. Mind you the food was all taken from the ready to eat food-counter, nothing fancy or made to order.

I was a one person customer with a single plate of rice with gulai tempoyak (not even patin buah) + sambal udang + ulam + teh ais but was charged nearly rm80. When the issue was politely raised on their ig, the owner was quick to block me.

It's also mind boggling to see how the owners (the young lady at the counter with coarse voice and also her younger brother) would treat their customers differently. The seemingly rich and famous would be treated nicely, and as a frequent there (used to be) you can tell that their tone, mannerism and overall action would change suddenly when dealing with the seemingly rich and famous, but those who may appear like a commoner / any person on the street might not get dealt with with an...
