We came here for an early dinner on a weekday and found plenty of parking in the basement. We arrived just before the restaurant opened for the evening, so we waited outside for a short while. They opened right at 5:00 pm, and we were shown to our table as soon as we walked in, with menus already placed on the tables. Our orders were taken promptly. The restaurant is clean and cozy, and we appreciated that all the staff wore proper face masks, aprons, and head coverings. It would have been nice if the staff had greeted us when they opened, as they knew we were waiting outside. We were left wondering when we could walk in.
We initially wanted to order the Salmon Sushi Moriawase (RM29.00), but we were informed that they had run out of Salmon Belly and would replace it with regular salmon instead. We appreciated their honesty and suggest that instead of replacing 2 pieces of Salmon Belly with 2 pieces of regular salmon, it would be better to replace them with 3 pieces of regular salmon since there is a price difference. We decided not to order this in the end.
We ordered some à la carte sushi (priced per piece) such as Salmon Sushi (RM4.00), Tobikko Gunkan (RM5.00), and Tobbiko Hana Maki (RM5.00). The sizes were a bit small, but the quality was above average. We also tried the Ebiten Roll (RM23.00), which was quite good. For the main course, we had the Gyu Don-Australia (RM32.00) and Tempura Soba (RM32.00). Both were of standard portion sizes and quite good. For drinks, we only had Roasted Green Tea (RM3.00 each, refillable). Overall, we were quite pleased with the food quality here. However, the wasabi was bland and tasteless, so it would be good if they could improve this. Price-wise, it is slightly expensive but still acceptable.
While the staff who took our orders were polite, the staff who cleared our dishes were a bit rude and seemed as though they didn’t want...
Read moreOur dining experience at Konichiwa Sri Damansara offered a satisfying journey through classic Japanese flavors, featuring a selection of well-executed dishes.
We began with a refreshing salad, setting the stage for the meal with its crisp and vibrant assortment of greens. The freshness of the ingredients was a promising start to our culinary adventure.
Moving on to the nigiri sushi, we found it to be skillfully prepared, with each piece showcasing the quality of the fish and rice. While it offered a familiar taste, it lacked any standout elements that would elevate it beyond the ordinary.
The yakisoba provided a comforting and hearty interlude, with perfectly cooked noodles and a savory sauce that satisfied our cravings for something warm and filling.
Finally, the unagi, while a classic choice, was prepared to a satisfactory standard. The grilled eel was tender and flavorful, albeit lacking any innovative twists or surprises.
Throughout our meal, the ambiance was pleasant, and the service was attentive, contributing to an overall enjoyable dining experience.
In summary, Konichiwa Sri Damansara offers a solid selection of Japanese classics that are sure to please fans of traditional Japanese cuisine.
While the dishes may not push any boundaries, they deliver on taste and quality, making it a reliable choice for a...
Read moreOk so this is a very late google review, but if you dined here on 17 Dec 2024 (or any days before), I’ve some bad news for you: I found a fly inside the soy sauce bottle.
Yes, the soy sauce bottle that every table has (along with the wasabi). Before our meals arrived, my family and I started to prepare our soy sauce + wasabi concoction. Poured the soy sauce into the saucer, then once I added wasabi, I started to stir it. To my dismay, there was a whole FLY inside it. There’s no way it came from the wasabi (it would’ve been obvious) so it definitely came from the soy sauce; I just didn’t see it first since the sauce is black. I’m just glad I decided to mix wasabi in that day, else I wouldn't have stirred the sauce and found the fly there before I started eating/dipping in it.
Anyway, we notified the staff, she gave a simple sorry, then took away the whole set + all the saucers my family used, bcs the fly has obviously contaminated the entire bottle that we poured from. She took the contaminated soy sauce bottle into the kitchen, and gave us a new bottle from another table.
Had anxiety for the remainder of the meal after that lol.
Decided to notify the cashier upon payment, and she was a bit more apologetic than the staff, which was nice. Nevertheless, I still wouldn’t...
