I had the pleasure of dining at Lara's Spice Kitchen Restaurant for breakfast, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for a memorable culinary experience. The restaurant's cozy and vibrant atmosphere immediately made me feel at home.
The menu offered a diverse range of breakfast options, and after much anticipation, I ordered the rawa thosai, poori, and nasi lemak. Let me tell you, each dish was a true masterpiece of flavors!
The rawa thosai was incredibly light, crispy on the outside, and filled with a delicious spiced potato filling. It perfectly complemented the accompanying chutney and sambar, which added an extra burst of flavors to the dish. The poori was just as impressive, boasting a puffy and golden-brown exterior that concealed a mouthwatering combination of fluffy interiors. Paired with a delightful side of chana masala, it was a match made in breakfast heaven!
And then there was the nasi lemak, a dish that effortlessly transported me to the streets of Malaysia with its authentic taste. The fragrant coconut rice, accompanied by succulent sambal prawns, crunchy peanuts, and refreshing cucumber slices, left my taste buds dancing with delight. It was an exquisite symphony of flavors and textures that I won't soon forget.
Moreover, the attentive and friendly staff at Lara's Spice Kitchen contributed to the overall exceptional dining experience. They were more than happy to recommend dishes and ensure that every aspect of our meal was enjoyable.
In conclusion, Lara's Spice Kitchen Restaurant is an absolute gem for anyone looking to savor authentic and delicious South Indian and Malaysian cuisine. The rawa thosai, poori, and nasi lemak were simply outstanding, showcasing the chef's mastery in creating culinary delights. I will undoubtedly be returning to explore more of their enticing menu offerings. If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Lara's Spice Kitchen. Your taste buds...

I have been a regular at Lara's Restaurant in Jalan Gasing for some time. So i have noticed the gradual decline in service. I cant say for sure if its due to a shift from prioritizing customer satisfaction to focusing solely on profit but my last two visits were really disappointing.
On a Sunday evening, the restaurant wasnt crowded, only a few tables were occupied. We ordered two banana paal appams to eat there and five paal appams for takeaway. Even with so few customers, we had to follow up at least four times with the counter staff and twice with the waiter. After a 45 minutes wait, we finally received one banana paal appam and the second one arrived five minutes later.
Then came the real frustration, the takeaway. We were done eating and still waiting, while customers who came after us were already getting their orders. Only when we asked again they realized and only started preparing it then. This added another 30 minutes of waiting.
To the owner especially those at the counter, i would strongly suggest stepping onto the floor, engaging with customers and addressing their frustrations instead of just collecting money. A little attentiveness can go a long way in improving the experience.
I truly hope Lara’s Restaurant improves its service and gets back to what...
Read moreLara's Kitchen is on the same row as where the famous Acha Curry House used to be. Many reviews warn of the queue and crowd but we were there on a Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm and the place was pleasantly quiet. We placed our orders without much ado and was served our banana leaf almost immediately. You can see in my photo that there wasn't much rice on my leaf but that was my choice. They are very generous with the rice and I found out later with the sides too. The sides were the usual offered at many places. Cucumber Raita which was very refreshing, Pumpkin Chutney which is quite hard to get wrong Egg Plant & Tomato Chutney which was pretty good Palak Fry- pretty good But what was outstanding was the mint chutney- it was freshly made, aromatic and very refreshing. Sauces on offer are dhal, curry dhal, chicken, fish, crab and onion. My favourite was the onion curry, very flavourful and packs a punch too. We ordered a Mutton Peratal and a Chicken Varuval. Both were above average though I would have preferred it heated up more. Overall the food is good. This meal for 2 cost just over RM 40.00 which today is average. Would I recommend it? As we did not have to queue or rush, it was a good experience with tasty food. I especially liked all the sides on offer. So yes, I would...
