Food is OK (only reason why the rating is 3), definately recommend the steel plate tofu and veg. waiters there unfortunately run the restaurant like they don't want to run a business. The taking order bit of the experience was fine as the lady was pleasent however because she is clearly severely overworked, she has to handle way too many tables at the same time making her do some really awkward sudden walk off in the middle of taking an order bit which makes for a least than pleasent experience, the paying bit was frustrating, waiter took our bill over and then vanish for a good whole 10 minutes then for some unknown reason reappear to snatch it away and then walk away leaving is for another 5 minutes before another waiter comes to again verify with us if that is our ticket (which we already verify twice by now) while clearing the payment for another customer who came and join the queue to pay our effing bills. Clearly it wasn't a fun experience. Food took awhile to come which was fine because we came at peak hour.
If your in the area and have an urge for an cheap and decently tasting Chinese cuisine then definately recommend it. However, if you have the money to spare, just head down to the curve and eat at any random stalls. Overall, not a very...
Read moreI have been to May Chixuan a few times over the years and each time has been good meals with reasonable pricing. Our most recent visit definitely didn't disappoint. Highlights & tips: The restaurant accepts reservations. I do recommend booking for dinners as sometimes weekdays it can get quite packed too. I liked almost all the dishes except for the buttermilk chicken. Top picks for me were the salted egg sotong and kailan cooked two ways. All dishes can be ordered for different sizes (small, medium, large). Pro tip is regardless of group size, choose between small or medium sizes if you like to try more dishes. Prices are reasonable too with the quality and portion size. Staff are ok. They will take the order at the table and deliver the food to the table. Payment is at the counter. They accept cash, card & e-payment. The decor, table arrangements and layout is pretty much the same as my first visit a couple of years ago. At some point in time, they may need a refresh.
I recommend any locals who would like to check out this place and have good Chinese cooked food...
Read moreThis restaurant is sort of like a hidden gem in the area of Damansara Perdana. Many locals know about this restaurant but it remains under the radar for most outsiders. I wouldn't have come here if not recommended by one of my makan Kaki. It doesn't look enticing from the outside and the inside looks just like any other restaurant out there. But it was packed not long after we arrived.. in fact the restaurant was fully booked for the evening and it spilled out to the corridor's walkway - a testament of its popularity.
Since we came in a big group, we could afford to order more dishes to sample, such as : ◾deep fried pork knuckle ◾Curry coconut prawns ◾steamed grouper with soy sauce ◾Buttermilk crab ◾Steamed crab in egg white ◾Stir fried green dragon vegetable ◾Hokkien mee
Most dishes were above average and price was quite low compared to others (another factor why it's so popular) and if there's one thing to complain, it'd be the chaotic situation when the whole restaurant was full of people.
Reservation is recommended...
