Sköhns Canteen — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

Been going Skohns semi regularly for a couple of years now and it's always been a decent choice for good food at relatively affordable prices. It's inside a older shopping mall which has perhaps seen better days overall but don't let that put you off giving this place a go. Parking is not too bad in the street outside it in the evening I find especially pre 6:30pm though lunch time can be a problem now.

There's lots of stuff on the menu I never got round to trying but I can say burgers are very very good, grilled fish and chicken also worth a try and pasta dishes are tasty too. They used to have the most amazing hand cut chips (best chips I had in 5 years in Malaysia) however I think they can no longer find the relevant potatoes so I think they're no more sadly or perhaps we've just been unlucky recently. Personally I much prefer their wedges to the normal fries they have so perhaps worth asking If they can do them instead.

Service is friendly and food comes pretty quickly and usually pretty close together. Decent selection of drinks as well though obviously it's halal so no alcohol. There's a few highchairs If you need them too and a little play area for toddlers actually which is nice. Think it's been a challenging time for them with COVID but I think it's a place that more people should check out now things are...

Went there for ramadhan dinner as it is also my mom's birthday. Ordered their cheesy nachos w/ beef chilli, grilled chicken chop, grilled lamb chops, cow ilham ku, coconut shake, milkshake, and rootbeer float.

Cheesy nachos is 11/10. Absolutely amazing, would totally eat it again. Amazing appetizer to start off the meal.

Grill chicken chop was good according to my mom. Her only feedback is that the black pepper sauce is a bit too salty for her taste bud. I had the grill lamb chop, but I'm fine with the black pepper sauce. My issue is with the lamb, it is a bit undercook for my liking, very chewy. Told it to the staff, was immediately fixed and even added extra fries. Very kind.

Cow ilham ku is also good according to my bf. However the drinks aren't as great. It's not a complete turn off though as the food is good.

Overall just need some minor adjustment here and there for the drinks. The waiting time is also reasonable. All the food came out right before the time to break fast, so it is nice to have the food...

Reasonable price for the drinks but my nescafe o ais look like tea o ais. Not enough Nescafe.

I ordered the signature lamb shank. Priced at RM37. At this price, I've had better. Big portion but the lamb shank itself is not that big. The plate is only full with thick onion, eggplant, cucumber etc. Which I didn't eat at all.

The lamb was placed on top of mashed potatoe. Big spoiler for me. Hard to taste the meat itself without having some of the potatoes in your mouth. Halfway through, the sauce already mixed well with the mashed potatoes and now it doesn't taste nice anymore. I hope you may reconsider changing the presentation. After all not many of us can eat thick onions. I should have ordered a burger. Maybe next time. Maybe...

Other than that it very easy to get parking spot even on weekend and our order...
