Behold, the crown jewel of Southeast Asian street fare: satay, hailed as Indonesia's national dish. This culinary masterpiece entails marinated meats, skewered, and grilled to perfection, served alongside a humble yet delectable dipping sauce. The satay variations are as diverse as the regions that birth them, boasting an array of meats, marinades, spices, and skewer materials. In this esteemed eatery, succulent chicken thigh meat is the star, but one can opt for lamb, venison, beef, or even rabbit. And let us not forget the pièce de résistance: the peanut sauce, an indispensable companion to satay. Its fragrant hints of lemongrass, coconut, fish sauce, and fresh lime zest elevate the dish to celestial heights. Lemongrass, with its citrusy, herbaceous, and almost anise-like aroma, infuses this recipe with its magic. Found in most supermarkets or specialized Asian markets, it forms the foundation of the marinade - a tantalizing lemongrass and coconut milk tea. The peanut sauce, however, remains devoid of chopped lemongrass, as the woody texture might not be ideal for dipping. For those seeking an authentic experience, Satay Hj Samuri Restaurant beckons, a haven of tradition nestled in Uptown...
Read moreHad lunch today (17/03/2021) at this outlet. The cashier/order taker, who is either a Pakistani or Bangladeshi, is not attentive in taking order. Ordered twenty sticks but only took down order for ten sticks. When the satay was served, I realized that the order was not correct. Had to re-order again. Also had take away, the peanut sauce had no chilli paste separately packed. When I asked the cashier/order taker for the chilli paste, he said that he had already mixed the chilli paste with the peanut sauce. He lied about it as I confirmed it when I came home and poured out the peanut sauce from the plastic bag. There was no chilli paste mixed with the peanut sauce. They have increased the price by almost 30% since they renovated the place. Asking for more money but deteriorating in service. Such bad service. Another sad thing is, the taste and quality is deteriorating since the founder Hj. Samuri passed away. The people that is managing this establishment is only concern with maximizing profits and not concern with quality of their product. Last time I am patronizing this Hj. Samuri...

The service is seriously bad! We went around 945pm after calling to see if they were open and they told us they close at 1030pm. When we got there the cashier had the audacity to tell us we only have 15 minutes to eat and go. When we asked her why she said they close at 10pm. Then I said your signage says 1030pm and she replied yeah but it's Thursday night so we need to close in 15 mins (don't understand the logic but to each their own). After placing the order she asked us which table. The restaurant was practically empty with only 1 table occupied. We said yeah anywhere is fine and she said "Oh you must give us a table number so we know where to send your food to."
Ridiculous service and I would not go back to this branch purely for...
