The restaurant boasts a good ambience, with a trendy, well-designed, and clean interior that feels cozy. The staff are friendly and attentive, though many seem to struggle with understanding English for simple orders. With fewer than 10 tables, it's a good idea to make a reservation if you're dining with a large group or want to avoid disappointment.
While the food tastes good, it doesn't quite capture the authentic flavors of Thai cuisine. The Tilapia Fried Fish was too dry and overly sweet, and the Tom Yum Soup, although nicely balanced in sourness and spiciness, lacked fragrance. The Pandan Chicken was disappointing, and the Cha Om Omelette tasted like plain egg, missing the strong flavors typical of Cha Om. On a positive note, the pork leg was tender and flavorful.
Food portions are extremely small, and the prices are on the high side. Our order of eight dishes cost over RM450, which felt overpriced considering the portion sizes. Despite the attractive presentation, the overall dining experience didn't justify the cost.
Parking can be a challenge as the restaurant is located on a busy road in SS2, with many nearby eateries and cafes contributing to the congestion.
Would I visit again? Maybe, but mainly for the pleasant ambience if hosting friends. There are other Thai restaurants offering more authentic food at better prices with reasonable serving sizes. While the setting and service were enjoyable, the high cost and lack of authenticity in the food make it hard to fully recommend...
Read moreDisclaimer: it can some time to get your food serve on peak hours especially on weekends. I went on a Sunday evening, I arrived Ruk Thai around 7pm, full house, waited about 20 minutes for seats. Waited another 45 minutes for hot food to be served. Mercy on the server for diner dashing around due to limited servers but their politeness made me felt like it’s ok la, just wait la.
The food: personally I felt their taste really authentic. Loving their red tomyum prawn, a bit too spicy for me(my spicy tolerance not too great, but I think is normal spicy to other peers). Fried rice full of wok hei, spicy prawn petai was great, moo ping a lil too much fats for me, Red Ruby dessert was great - the chestnut was soft and chunky. BUT GUYS their homemade sauce was highlight to me.. solid good.. to me :)
Personally I’m a hard fan of Thai food and i can say they are pretty solid compare to many. Although their portion can be small and slightly pricy to many Peers but overall I had great experience on the food &...
Read moreIn the bustling SS2 food hub, packed with all kinds of eateries, Ruk Thai stands out as the sole flag bearer of our northern neighbors. And they wear that title proudly, serving as a worthy ambassador of Thai cuisine. The small eatery boasts vibrant, floral interiors—so colorful they border on gaudy. Even the hostess adds to the atmosphere, dressed in formal “Chut Thai” traditional attire.
Now, let’s talk about the food. We ordered small servings of Tom Yam Chicken, Onion Omelette, Stir Fried Kangkung, Basil Minced Pork and Phad Thai Noodles. The dishes were served promptly and piping hot👍🏻Portions are fairly generous👍🏻 Flavours are appropriately intense and fiery👍🏻 Recipes are quite straightforward and formulaic - no big surprises or disappointments👍🏻 Ingredients are fresh and of good quality👍🏻 Service was polite and quite accommodating with plenty of smiles👍🏻Prices are considered very reasonable for the food quality, level of service and setting👍🏻
