We arrived in a slight drizzle on a weekend. Parking in SS2 is usually not easy but we were lucky to find a spot nearby. I was warned that weekends can be quite challenging. And there was a small queue outside with some seating provided. The staff seating people was informative and expedient. So we got a table in about 5mins. There are very few physical menus but they do have an EMenu you can scan on the tables. Strangely enough, you can't seem to make payment using the Emenu but still have to queue up to pay at the cashier station. The place was full but still maintained a pleasant ambience with good air circulation from the air conditioners. There's a mural painted on the main wall featuring how the restaurant was (probably when Granny was serving herself). The lady helping us with our order was very warm and had a good sense of humour too. For starters we ordered the pork meat paste, fried wantons and a bowl of deep fried intestines porridge to share. All three were good especially the porridge. For your main noodles, you can choose the ingredient, followed by the soup base and then the type of noodles you prefer. We ordered 4 noodles and the noodles came out fast for a full house. The 2 signature mixed pork with their signature spicy and sour soup with dong guan noodles is interesting- a bit like tom yum but not quite. It was on the spicy side even for me but it was also delicious and very generous. They definitely do not stinge on the meats. In fact, you can order just the one bowl, share it and top up your order with their delicious add-ons. This way, you have a nice variety of things to try. The fish fillet and the grouper fish fillet noodles we ordered came with the traditional evaporated milk soup. The soup was rich and creamy but I'm fussy when it come to fresh water fish as i do not enjoy the muddy after-taste. I definitely prefer the grouper. Overall, the food was all above average and a generous portion. The service was friendly and efficient and the place was pleasant enough. Our meal for 4 came up to just under RM 115.00 which i thought was pretty decent. If you feel like a porky meal, this is a great place- the meat and innards are well cleaned and very fresh too. I would definitely recommend...
Read moreRestaurant was crowdrd on a Saturday night but didn't wait for long to get a table for two. Staffs were attentive to update us on the availability of table while we are waiting. They also offer to introduce the items in their menu since they newly open recently.
Food and drinks serving are fast to reach within 5-10 mins. Ordered a double pork noodle with meatball & meat patty, evaporated milk soup with pickles & DongGuan vermicelli. The soup is superb as the sourness is good and truly appetizing but not overpowered, just missing the milky taste as I dont feel like the evaporated milk do anything. There are about 7 tiny meatballs but taste quite bland. Same for the meat patty. Might need more seasoning on the meats. The vermicelli is quite tough at 1st but aftet leaving in the hot soup for awhile its chewy and nice to bite.
Had another bowl of drunken chicken noodle. The soup has good fragrant of wine and the taste of wine is pretty strong. Would prefer to taste to tune down abit. Would prefer more seasoning on the chicken as it taste quite bland too.
One thing worth mentioning is the chili sauce. It has a touch of lime, mild spiciness and taste really good dipping with meats. Also add on a meatpaste which taste good.
Portion wise, its kind of too small for me as im still craving for more food after finishing one bowl. Basic price is acceptable but the add on dont seems to worth it as it comes in small portion.
Place is pretty clean and seats were okay. There are alot of tables so it might feel a little crowded and noisy when fee tables...
Read moreThe restaurant has a simple and nice ambience. They play older music in the background (70s/80s) to the theme of the name (grannny).
The ordering is done via online menu (via QR on the table). They have physical menu too. My issue with the menu (both online and physical) is the lack of clarity on the difference of the normal meehoon and Dongguan meehoon. Side note: The dongguan meehoon is a little more springy.
The Super Pork Noodles is a mish-mash of pork internal organs. I ordered the sour and spicy soup base with meehoon. Supposedly there are pork balls, but they didn’t put it in my bowl. I informed the waitress that the pork ball is missing after I finished up the bowl (because I can’t see through the soup and won’t know until I finish it up), but she just ignored me. So service-level is not up to par. The dish is good though, albeit lacking the meat balls.
The fried fish noodle is ordered with the sour and spicy soup base and the dongguan meehoon. The Dongguan noodle is springy. The fish is ok.
The bursting meat ball noodle is ordered with clear soup base and yellow noodles. The clear soup is average. The bursting meat ball is also average.
So the food is not bad. Price is higher end but as they seem to give quite a lot ingredients wise it guess it is acceptable. They forgot to put in the meat ball Super Pork Noodle, so that bowl wasn’t as worthwhile.
The service a little lacking. They just ignored me when told the meat ball is missing. They lost one star there for...
