I came here on a weekday afternoon after reading about it on an online article. I knew it was going to be crowded so I decided to arrive before noon. It was already full but I got a table after a short 5 minutes wait.
That's when the problems started. There were about 20+ tables and about 5 or 6 wait staff. In my opinion, that should be sufficient but service was horrendous. It took a long wait for our orders to be taken. We ordered a banana leaf rice set and a plain biryani rice, 2 pieces of fried tenggiri and 2 ice water.
The biryani came and the banana leaf rice set was soon set up with the leaf and 2 vege side dishes. After another long wait, I finally managed to signal a waiter to come serve the rice. I asked why only 2 vege side dishes when the menu mentioned 4. Then there was another long wait for the curry. Meanwhile I caught the guy serving the vege and I got the 3rd vege but there isn't a 4th one it seems despite what the menu says. Although I didn't realize it then but the menu also says the set comes with acar and dry chili. Neither was served or offered.
The curry and papadom eventually came but despite reminding about the fish, they never came. We just started eating and kept our fingers crossed that the fish will come while we are eating. But nope. Never came. In the end, I gave up and just paid.
Can't really say much about the food but what we had was quite average. The only thing of interest was one of the vege side dish was what looked like deep fried anchovies but on closer look, it wasn't. It was some kind of leaf or flower or sprout.
Although the place is new but from what I understand, the business is not. It is a branch. There is a lot of running around but nothing much seems to get done. They should take a look at how it is done at Kanna Curry House. Although the food is just okay at Kanna but their workers are like clockwork precision. The assembly of the BLR set the is a...
Read moreHad really high expectations of the place based on a recommendation. The place is clean and spacious. Parking was also relatively convenient as there are parking lots in front of the shop - just need to be lucky to find one.
We went for breakfast and ordered rawa tosai, masala tosai, vade and other dishes (sorry, not too sure what they are called). Overall, we enjoyed some dishes but some, not so much. What we liked best was the rawa tosai which was very crispy and yet fluffy at the same time. We felt that the amount of gravy and chutney could be more generous. The vade was pretty average though the size is much bigger than the typical vade we usually buy from street vendors.
An elderly staff who was behind the cashier seemed to have difficulties communicating with me. Not sure if it was his hearing or just me not understanding his accent. Not a big deal.
Overall, we thought the place was pretty average. However, our review was based on breakfast items. We will need to try the other items, especially it's signature banana leaf rice to be able to have a better idea of the rest...
Read moreI decided to try this place out of a recommendation of a friend. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT come here.
I came here for lunch today hoping to have a nice meal but I was utterly disappointed. The service was absolutely horrendous (from the time we sat down, being served the banana leaf and dishes). Due to such a long wait, I had to even go up and start self serving myself and my friends. Even informing the waiter to get us our food was such a physically draining and exasperating experience. The waiters seem to be blinded by the fact that there were customers in the store; they would nod at you after hearing your order but go missing in action after that. I felt bad for the other customers who were also left waiting for their food and drink. There were a few tables who were in our same position.
The food was very mediocre. Nothing great. You are better off at Nirwana.
Throughout the whole time, the air con was switched off and only the fans were running. It was very hot and stuffy inside.
All in all, never again for me...
