Fat Mum Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Sarawak

We are from Canada and it's our first time in Sibu. Had a chance to have dinner at Fat Mum Coffee Shop. The decor of this restaurant is very unique, lots small interesting small items. We had 2 types of fish (steamed and sambal), Satay, Bidin, Fried pawns and BBQ Pork. We had their famous Soursop drink, it's like a Soursop smoothie, delicious. The food was fresh, excellent, tasty and delicious. We were enjoying the food and owner Alex came by and had a few chats. What a nice gentleman. One thing lead to another, he bought out his own stash of beer and shared with us. He has quite a collection. He's very knowledgeable about beer. I was retired from beer industry, he definitely knows his stuff. We had a long conversation about beer. We'll definitely come back to Fat Mum next time we are in Sibu. It was really a nice Chinese restaurant to have a casual meal with family and friends. I could feel the creativity and effort of the owners in running their business by decorating almost every inch of the shop, inclusive of the ceiling and the toilet. In terms of the food, the price was reasonable while most of the food I had there was tasty. The fish was exceptionally fresh and tasty. It was definitely worth more than the price charged. I will surely go back for another visit...

Not recommend, you can simply get better food at any other places around Sibu. We've founded a lot of good food in Sibu, this is the only one give us unpleasant experience. They do not have menu, so u can just order according what they recommended. We ordered kung pao chicken, mongolian pork, claypot tauhu and fried yau mak. The meat of chicken and pork is dry and cant really taste the flavour; the tauhu is not fresh and a bit sour, yau mak is overripe. As we have no intention to ask compensation for the unfresh tauhu, so we told the waitress the issue after paid so she can aware and inform her team to check quality of their ingredient. However, when we mention this issue, she just rudely answer: "So you nak macam mana?". Then she just told us that her job is serve dishes, this issue should tell her chef and keep repeat mention her job just serve the dishes to customer, this is not her business.
