The hotel is located in the town centre. There are shop lots with restaurants, copy shops, bars and bakeries surrounding it. Location-wise it isnât that bad.
The facade of the hotel is rather old school. There are a total of 11 floors, with the 1st and 2nd floors utilized for function rooms and a restaurant. The gym and pool is at the 3rd floor, and so are some rooms. Some rooms are actually next to the pool separated only by a fence. The inside of the hotel are renovated and have some cleanliness to it (except for the gym and pool).
The gym is only open at certain hours; 7am to 10am, and 2pm to 7pm. Not a very convenient timing for opening. The equipments in the gym are old and rusty. The gym room is also used as an old appliance dumpster. Claiming the opening hours at 7am, they arenât even punctual at opening. I had to ask the front desk to call someone to open it. So it only opened at 7:10am. Usually when hours are set for access to gym it is to have a staff ensure the safety of the user. In this case it seems like the person is there just to sit around. Every minute is precious as one can be in a hurry, such lackadaisical attitude to punctuality shows a lack of concern for service. Donât waste your time preparing to use the gum as it is an utter disappointment in every single way.
The rooms are average. Not spanking new nor too old, except for the bathroom. The bathtub/shower looks old and yellowing. Nevertheless, the room in general is clean. Access to the room is via touch card.
The breakfast provided is at the restaurant on the ground floor. The variety of food is little and of low value and quality. It is better to go out and eat at nearby restaurants (try local kampua mee or gong pia varieties).
(Special Note: I do not believe it the supernatural nor spirits, but a travel companion reported an unnatural spirit troubling...
Read morePros Comfortable bed and pillows which is quite difficult to find (especially in Sibu). This point alone is the sole reason I'd come back for
Cons No parking for guests. Day parking means you need to hunt for a spot and parking coupons. Despite listing business center as one of their facilities, I did not expect to be asked to pay Rm5 for up to an hour use of computer which I never have to with other hotels (which listed business center facilities- pc, printing and cheaper room rate than tanahmas)and this is for a hotel which charge quite premium rate in Sibu. Nonetheless, at least they do offer this facility but at a cost which they should state
Room key needed verification everytime i need to go back to my room ( faulty door perhaps?) didn't have this problem with other hotels i stayed
Breakfast is really basics. Jams offered are bad. Do consider changing to better ones like Kingwood's (although their rate is cheaper, their jams are way better).
This one is important, especially for ladies. Please change your antique hairdryer. I had to ask for an alternative one because the one in the toilet is just too old to function and the housekeeping asked me back 'oh u mean u want a normal one?' And yes, even you think we would request for a more normal one? :)
Above all cons, i'd still stay for the comfort sake. But that doesn't mean these points are worth...
Read moreBad experience. Went to stay here with family for 3 days on Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Reviewed the hotel on google and thought it will be a good hotel. it stated that it had swimming pool but when we reached there, they said âno swimming poolâ. that is not even the worse part yet, my roomâs table lamp is smoking. not sure due to electricity or faulty appliance issue. Not even that, my roomâs aircond is busted and gusted out only a small amount of cold air so we called the management to come to our room to check on this matter. The management came with a smug face looking like he is annoyed to us Iâm not sure why. He told me âif the table lamp is bad then donât use it laâ. Then I had him checked on the aircond and he said âyou havenât put the blower to the maxâ and he got out of the room with not even a single smile on his face and angry instead. The aircond was still busted the whole night and I have to sleep without shirt on due to the hotness. For the breakfast, I had average experience, but when I asked for poaced eggs (have to ask the cook to prepare). she said âyou have to waitâ. then i waited and waited and waited. then I go there again to ask for my poached eggs and she still say you have to wait when she is clearly making omelette for customers who is later than me. This is not a cheap hotel, I had enough and stayed here only for 1 night and checked out...
