Raj Vilas Restaurant, located near the iconic Batu Caves in Malaysia, is a renowned establishment that brings the flavors of traditional Indian and Rajasthani cuisine to the heart of this vibrant region. With a focus on providing authentic and high-quality Indian food, the restaurant has gained popularity for its flavorful dishes, warm service, and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor exploring Batu Caves and its surroundings, Raj Vilas offers a culinary experience that is both indulgent and comforting.

Location and Ambience: Situated in the Batu Caves area, Raj Vilas benefits from a convenient location that makes it an excellent choice for those visiting the famous Batu Caves temple complex. The restaurant is easily accessible, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal after sightseeing or exploring the area. The surrounding environment is lively, with many other attractions and shops nearby.

As for the interior, the restaurant boasts a contemporary yet traditional Indian design. The decor is rich with vibrant colors, intricate wooden furnishings, and soft lighting that creates a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The seating arrangements are spacious, with both intimate tables for couples and larger seating areas suitable for families or groups. The traditional Rajasthani elements, such as ornate wall hangings, wooden carvings, and paintings of Indian royalty, add to the restaurant’s charm, creating an authentic Indian dining experience.

The ambiance is comfortable, relaxing, and well-suited for both casual dining and special occasions. The restaurant's quiet, inviting atmosphere ensures that diners can enjoy their meal in peace, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy Batu Caves area.

Cuisine: Raj Vilas Restaurant specializes in a wide variety of authentic Indian cuisine, particularly dishes from North India and Rajasthan. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques to deliver flavorful and aromatic dishes. The menu offers a rich mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, catering to a wide range of preferences.

Appetizers and Starters: The appetizer menu at Raj Vilas is filled with classic Indian starters, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The Paneer Tikka (grilled cottage cheese marinated in spices) is a popular choice among vegetarians, while the Seekh Kebabs (minced meat skewers) and Chicken Malai Tikka are favorites for meat lovers. The Samosas (crispy pastry filled with spiced potatoes or meat) and Pakoras (fried fritters) are also widely enjoyed by patrons for their perfect crunch and flavorful fillings.

Main Courses: The main courses at Raj Vilas showcase the diversity and richness of Indian cuisine, with many Rajasthani and North Indian dishes standing out for their authenticity and taste. The Laal Maas (spicy mutton curry) is a standout dish, known for its deep, smoky flavors and heat, typical of Rajasthani cuisine. Another highly recommended dish is the Gatta Curry, which features gram flour dumplings in a tangy gravy – a quintessential Rajasthani comfort food.

The restaurant also serves a variety of curries, such as Butter Chicken (creamy, mildly spiced chicken curry) and Rogan Josh (spicy lamb curry). The Dal Tadka (lentils cooked with spices) and Aloo Gobhi (cauliflower and potatoes) are popular vegetarian options that are consistently flavorful.

For those who enjoy biryani, the Mutton Biryani and Chicken Biryani are flavorful and aromatic, prepared with saffron, spices, and basmati rice. The restaurant also offers a good selection of Tandoori dishes, such as Tandoori Roti, Garlic Naan, and Tandoori Chicken, all of which are cooked to perfection in the traditional clay oven.

Breads and Rice: The bread options at Raj Vilas are freshly prepared and perfectly complement the rich gravies and curries. Naan (plain, garlic, butter, or stuffed) and Parathas are often served alongside...

One of the few food shops located at the entrance of Batu Caves. This is a vegetarian shop and they have options of rice, fried items, snacks and drinks. Food/Drink: We had their vegetarian banana leaf rice. Served with 4 different option of vegetables (refill of vegetables and rice is chargeable). And they left the curry for us to take as much as we need. The vegetables are well cooked. Curries were quite tasty. It was quite satisfying. Ambience/Location: Shop is quite large and ventilation is sufficient. They have fans throughout. And shop is relatively clean. Service: Staffs are attentive and helpful and explained the menu to us. Ordering took a bit of time, but was ok. Price: Price is a bit on the higher side. Extra portions are chargeable for rice and also vegetables. Recommendation: It's convenient to eat here if visiting. They also have fresh coconuts. When to visit: Anytime during...

SCAM alert, TRY to avoid this place. This place sells unlimited written in the menu and serves a small cup of rice, I wonder how is it an unlimited when there is a limitation with food, this place is located inside the temple campus and does scam with food, I never expected them owner to have such an audacity to mention unlimited by providing just one small cup of rice, food taste was not that great, price was high, everything is kept open and exposed to air, so hygiene part in this outlet is dead, they should mention one small cup extra rice for RM2 than mentioning unlimited, if it was india, I would have filled a fraud case, as I'm a tourist herr and I got scammed, I reported to NSRC to have an inspection on this place. I wonder, did I forget the meaning of unlimited or is he teaching me the meaning of unlimited by saying, one cup.
