No aircon no frills. But high ceiling and lots of fan. Didn’t sweat a bit coz it was airy.
They serve lamb, chicken and chicken lala claypots. The chicken was so so. The lala was tender and sweet if you eat immediately. Don’t leave for even 5 mins. It’ll turn tough. But we love the lala! We always order extra lala!
But the lamb pot is the star. The soup has genuine lamb bone taste unlike the other popular lamb hotpot restaurants in Plaza Arkadia and SS2 which tasted of msg.
They serve lamb belly with the proper amount of fat and those lamb ribs were so good! The only trouble is they don’t give too much of the ribs. They were trying to give value for money with thick cuts of meat until we literally had to tell them we wanted more ribs!
Like any hotpot, they had extra ingredients to add to the pot while the hotpot was boiling merrily. They use old fashion charcoal stoves. If you’re afraid of flying sparks, ask for the stove to be covered.
Service is very good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You need to be patient with the 2 foreign ladies who don’t seem to understand English or Malay. But they always look so apologetic and embarrassed that I feel it must be really hard for them too.
Latest review - just had Tai Lang lamb hotpot after a period of absence. Very disappointed. The recipe has changed totally. Tasted of seasonings from a packet. Especially the chicken hotpot. It tasted like instant seasoning. Service was still good but the food was very disappointing to the extend of tasting terrible actually. No lamb taste in the lamb hotpot. We were told the cooks have changed.
Whole I gave 5 stars to the original Tai Lang hotpot, I now will give it one star only. Will not go...

Read moreIt was a raining day, and was craving a good bowl of soupy dinner. Therefore, decided to detour to this restaurant, since I am around the area.
True enough, I wasn't disappointed. After trying out 4 different claypot mutton restaurants, this is undoubtedly my top personal preference.
The overall claypot mutton was savoury and overall meat was soft and tender, Most importantly, the broth was well balanced and the mutton smell didn't overpower the broth.
On top of that, the overall price was very reasonable compared other similar restaurants.
This restaurant definitely deserves my Top 10 most recommended restaurant...
