The recent visit to a Chinese traditional kopitiam at Aman Puri, Kepong was a delightful surprise—a hidden gem reminiscent of my childhood days spent in coffee shops, Kampung Boy.
"Kampung Boy" is a renowned Malaysian comic book series created by a Malaysian cartoonist Lat (Mohammad Nor Khalid). It chronicles the childhood and adolescence of a boy named Mat, who grows up in a traditional Malaysian village, or "kampung." The series captures the essence of rural life in Malaysia, depicting various cultural aspects, customs, and everyday experiences of the protagonist and his family. "Kampung Boy" is celebrated for its humor, relatable storytelling, and vivid illustrations, making it a beloved classic in Malaysian literature and culture.
However, the kopitiam and the comic are not the same. The kopitiam owner simply uses the term "village boy" in a general sense. The shop has only been open for a few months, but it's clean and has a friendly service from the waitstaff. The food and beverages served here transport me back to my childhood days. I've learned that this is the owner's 4th or 5th food and beverage venture. I've tried their chicken rice and Teochew porridge at another location and operate in different shops, and they have a genuine taste, just like this kopitiam. However, the curry noodle's recipe needs improvement as the soup is too watery, and the wantan noodle is overly salty with a lack of flavor and overly thick texture. The traditional Hainanese coffee could be better; it seems the hot water isn't at the right temperature to blend the coffee powder, and the cups should be served hot. While I'm unsure of the brand they use, there's still room for improvement for this newly-operated kopitiam. Overall, the atmosphere brings back fond memories, and the supplier for the Nyonya kuih is excellent. I look forward to returning and experiencing improvements, hoping to recapture the nostalgic taste and aroma of...

My family and I (total 2 adults 1 elder 2 kids and 1 baby) was waiting outside for our turn for about 30 minutes, when it is our turn, the waiter come out and ask if we can separate the table.
with so many kids we actually do prefer to have join table instead, then he said have to wait.
and we noticed that the table had some empty spot to put baby chair and asking if can put the baby chair there, then the waiter said "here cannot put baby chair" but we saw the place was empty just confirm with him if he understand are we referring to same place to fit baby chair, then he raised up his voice and told us "here cannot put baby chair". (Note: if the place really not advisable to put baby chair then can you explain to us why or just say nicely without raising the tone?)
Next thing is, the next customer under waiting list also 5 people, and we only got to know that the so called separate table was just next to each other.
what we need actually was some basic respect and explanation. hope management could take service as a...
