During our recent trip back to Vancouver from Kuala Lumpur, we had the pleasure of dining at Grandmama’s, a lively and friendly Malaysian restaurant located at KLIA. A friend had recommended this place to us, and it certainly lived up to its reputation.
Grandmama’s offers a contemporary setting that beautifully complements its traditional Malaysian flavors, evoking fond memories of our Nenek (grandmother's) cooking. The restaurant is a favorite among both locals and international travelers, thanks to its renowned local delicacies.
Despite being busy, the restaurant was clean, and the service was impressively fast. The menu boasted a wide variety of options, making it hard to choose. We finally settled on Satay Beef and Chicken, Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice), Ice Kacang, and Cincau with Longan. Each dish was incredibly tasty, and the prices were very reasonable.
The only minor hiccup was that the server missed my order for a bottle of water. However, considering that she was managing multiple tables on her own, it was understandable. From my observation, they seemed a bit short-staffed, but overall, we were satisfied with the service.
Dining at Grandmama’s made for a delightful start to our journey back to Vancouver, and we highly recommend it to anyone passing...
Read moreWent there to get dinner while waiting for the flight schedule at KLIA. This restaurant quite crowded at that time due to the long weekend. This place actually quite big with some tables and chair, even if you sit inside then you can see the parking area for airplane close to your window. I have to wait a bit longer for the table to be prepared because at that time most of all staffs was working with other customers. I order hainam rice and nasi lemak, also fresh coconut. And i need to wait again until the food can be served on the table. Total waiting time at that time around 30 minutes. Still acceptable but if the flight schedule was too tight, it will be a problem. For the hainam rice, the chicken meat really tender and juicy, so tasty. The rice also tasty and i can taste the herb inside. For nasi lemak for me it did not have any differences with other restaurant that i tried, even at that time the chicken taste plain. But for the fresh coconut it was really tasty, a lot of coconut water inside. They served halal food only here, so do not worry about the cooking equipment as well. Overall, the place is good with good seating arrangement. For the portion per food also enough. For the price actually not too expensive, still reasonable for...
Read moreAt 10p.m., I had a Char Kuey Trow there. This restaurant is located in KLIA departure gate, C31-C37 area. It means that after finishing immigration you can visit this restaurant. Considering that many foreigners will be its customers, its service must be improved.
First of all, I was waiting at the entrance to be seated, but no staff guided me. Well, is it your policy? Okay. I can follow your procedure.
Second of all, the table was not ready but I have to be seated. Well, let's say it was crowded so the staff was so busy.
Last of all, why do I have to pay more money for your Char Kuey Trow? I was being served exactly the same as the street stall restaurant. Can you please answer?
In terms of food, though it was somewhat salty to me, it was good. This restaurant has several brenchs at Pavilion KL, Pavilion Built Jalil, Getting Highlands, Intermark Mall. If the owner is reading my review, I would like to let him/her know that this is in KLIA. You must focus on its service. Because it will be the first impression of Malaysia. I like Malaysia and many friends there. Please do something for...
