Kocha Lala — Restaurant in Sepang

I have always wanted to come here because this cafe mentioned "kafe kampung" so definitely will have a lot of local food (masakan kampung). Mee Bandung was one of the reasons I wanted to come to this place.

But I came in the morning so I prefer breakfast menu instead (mee bandung is too heavy for breakfast - for me at least 😂). I ended up ordering peknga with sambal ikan bilis and teh ais. My friend ordered nasi lemak ayam goreng kecil and kopi susu.

When we came here, the place was quite full. but staff was quite fast to come and take our order. The menu book was soo big! 😆 And the menu was quite extensive so you will take some time before deciding what to have since they are so many choices! service was fast especially for drinks (food will take a bit longer, understandable). Not sure if there was a miscommunication during order but they brought the wrong drinks but the staff were helpful and change to the correct drinks.

My peknga came and it looked presentable but only 1 piece of peknga with sambal ikan bilis (RM9.00). It tasted good but the sambal was too spicy for me. My teh ais was also RM9.00 but the taste was superbbbbb (only less ice. hopefully next time will get more ice). The nasi lemak was great too (fluffy rice, sambal was not that spicy but the chicken was a bit hard but overall nice. price - RM20.00). The kopi susu was less sweet (price - RM9.00 and it came with a side cookies - we got coconut cookies. Alas, we did not eat coconut cookies 😅)

Everything was okay, ambience was nice and we had a great time. But when we went to pay the bill, the staff wrongly key in our order (additional items that we did not order). Luckily we realized it and got our refund back. Hopefully the staff would be more careful on this matter (also could improve on the communication with customers too).

Overall, good experience despite the price is on the higher side but once in a while you can indulge yourself here. To me, it's kafe kampung, harga...

I had a high expectation for this restaurant (based on google review) especially when it comes to taste and quality of the seafood/meat (aneka lauk section). My husband and I had rice to pair with daging salai and sambal petai udang laut. Daging salai was ok, nothing to shout about, gravy slightly on the watery side. Taste of sambal petai is good, more on the spicy side but unfortunately udang laut was very bad in terms of texture and quality (size udang laut is ok for the price paid). But quality/texture; it’s not fresh at all (lembik almost to the extent bila bukak kulit easily terlerai isi). I did mentioned about this to one of the waitress so hopefully they’ll improve in the future. teh o ice limau just nice, not to sweet. Restaurant ambience is wonderful, chill, and cosy. There’s toilet inside their premise. My husband did caught one of the guy worker wearing cap smoking inside the toilet and straight away after done with his business, going to the kitchen. Not sure if they allow smoking inside toilet but it was way too unhygienic especially if you work for the restaurants and serve/cook for clients...

Ordered their buttermilk and daging salai.

Buttermilk is superb ! It’s what buttermilk should taste like ! I said this because as a “buttermilk chicken hunter” , most of the time some restaurant serve either too buttery, too salty, too sweet, too milky BUT here’s IS PERFECT. The taste of it playing in my mouth ,the sweet taste , the spiciness and the saltiness is just umami !

Daging salai so nice also. But it served by bowl yang retak a bit. (so deduct 1 ⭐ for that). The kuah without the rice, its creaminess , spiciness is so nice ! but the salai taste is light only. BUT when you eat with rice, the salai taste from the kuah and the meat started to taste stronger and better. That’s when my eyes started to brighten up ! Taste like heaven ! The best daging salai I’ve ever eat in my life. The thickness of the kuah is balance. All the flavours works so well ! Definitely recommend this ! No wonder it is the best seller.

Services was efficient and excellent. Tables are clean. Staffs are helpful. Easy to order by scan QR and can pay directly...
