We came here with Lid & Jue right after IKN as Nasir had promised during the previous checkup. Nasir went there earlier with his wife and daughter, to book for a table as we were running quite late. He had warned us repeatedly not to be late, as it could be difficult to get a parking spot, and also a table, as the lunch crowd would be huge...🤔
We arrived at around 12:30pm, and were lucky to get an adjacent parking. Upon getting closer to the restaurant, we were overwhelmed by the sweet aroma in the air, from among the smoky area up front, as well as the number of people who were queing for the grilled food right in front of the entrance, while some were trying to get inside, and some first time visitors like us were quite confuse of what to do...it was like a total chaos!!!😱😱😱
Nasir and his family were already inside, with their selected choices of food. I was mesmerised by the huge calamaris still being grilled on the hot plate, and couldnt move on from there!! Not until I could get my own plate of nicely flavored grilled calamari, that is!!!🦑🦑🦑
As expected, I was the last to arrive at the table...my wife had a portion of grilled stingray and a whole but small grilled fish all to herself. Khalid was having some grilled stingray as well, which I figured must be his favorite, while Jue was feasting on a plate full of grilled spicy cockles. Nasir being a regular there, was walloping on the grilled calamari, as well as the grilled stingray too...😋😋😋 Apparently, his wife and daughter had finished their lunch earlier, and were happy to chit chat with us, and took some photos together..
Due to the heavy duty grilling activity in front of the restaurant, it was obvious that the smokes had seeped right into the restaurant. This had created some uneasiness amongst the patrons, as the room felt "smoky". It was correct to say that there was not much of an ambiance inside, as the smokes tended to stick on our clothes, and got in our eyes..🥺 Had we known better, we would have chosen those external al fresco tables along the...
Read moreOne of the BEST Ikan Bakar! No fishy smell. Thank you for the Ikan bakar boys for serving with a smile! 🙂 I request no sauce for the ikan bakar, I like the simple tumeric taste and bakar camtu je. Because eating it with kicap is the Best! First round ikan kembong (got some small bones), second round ikan bawal emas(less bones). They should have this option no sauce. The fish was also soft not over cooked. Also eating like this brings back sweet old memories ❤️ Sotong bakar was also good and not overcooked.
There are plenty of dishes from beef, lamb and many vegetables dishes.
Everything is self service. There will be someone who comes to your table and calculate your food.
Sitting, you have to find and waiting time can be abit long if during lunch time. Because working people. So come earlier. Weekend lunchtime is also busy and a number of dishes finish by 1:30pm. I think they will top up. But no worries, just be patient and a sit will be available.
Definitely will go again and recommend people to go here if you are in the neighbourhood.
Suggestion: If possible put more fans in side the sitting area, because it’s very hot!...
Read moreSorry but it was a disappointing dinner. I've been to a lot of ikan bakar places and this would be the least favourite(I'm not even thinking about a second visit). Ikan bakar looks like ikan goreng. Sotong goreng tepung tasted like they use frozen ones and not fresh. I apologize if they do but I've tasted fresh sotong before and this wasn't it. The so called sotong sambal doesn't even remotely look like the name. More like sotong goreng kunyit. And again it tasted frozen and just salty. The only thing I like is just the prawns.
I sat inside and it was so hot. They should buy proper air-cond for the restaurant because they ones they have are doing nothing at all. And looking at it you know it doesn't have enough power to supply cool air. Service was slow as well and by the time food arrived it was let down taste wise.
Suggestion for improvement: -Invest more for the comfort of your customers(air-cond etc.) -train your staff how to make proper ikan bakar -please don't use any frozen seafood if you called yourself kedai ikan bakar no. 1(your...
