First impressions from the outside were underwhelming—the exterior didn’t quite reflect what was waiting inside. However, as you approach the entrance, the landscaping and interior transition into a surprisingly cozy, clean, and spacious dining space with definite fine-dining vibes. That deserves a mention.
I tried the W22 Empat Sekawan Sauce Grilled Chicken and the W21 Grilled Sawadee Tomyam Chicken. Presentation-wise, both dishes looked fresh and appetizing. The ingredients used seemed of good quality, though the chicken portions could be slightly more generous considering the price point.
Taste-wise, both dishes leaned towards the sweeter side—personally, a bit too sweet for my liking. The signature Empat Sekawan sauce felt rather safe and didn’t quite showcase a distinct flavor profile, which left me questioning what makes it their specialty. The tomyam variation also lacked the bold, tangy kick typically expected.
Service was courteous but slightly lacking in confidence. The staff member taking our order seemed unsure when recommending sauces based on our preference for less sweetness. Additionally, most of the team appeared to be foreign staff (all masked), and while polite, communication could be a challenge for some diners.
Another mismatch was the ambience vs. operations—the dining setup is beautiful and thoughtfully curated, but the payment counter feels outdated and disrupts the overall aesthetic. Ordering is still done via paper and pencil, which feels like a missed opportunity in this otherwise modern setting.
In short, Empat Sekawan offers a charming space and fresh ingredients, but there's a disconnect between the atmosphere, service confidence, and the actual dining experience. With a few refinements in taste profiling, service training, and digital upgrades, it has the potential to shine brighter.
Would I return? Maybe—for the ambience—but I hope to see improvements in the food and service...

We recently dined at Empat Sekawan, a popular spot known for its delicious Malaysian cuisine. However, be prepared for a challenging parking situation, as the venue is often bustling and the wait times can be lengthy. If you have the patience for a crowded environment, the experience can be quite rewarding.
Some diners feel that the restaurant is somewhat overrated, citing higher prices compared to typical café-style establishments. Nevertheless, our meal was enjoyable, and we appreciated the variety in our selections.

Read moreCame by here for a cheery brunch on a Sunday. Place is nestled in an industrial area in Puchong, so parking is a hit or miss due to big lorries and workshop cars filling up the unmarked spots. The place was lined and packed with people; queue was around 20 mins.
What really impressed me was the modern industrialist interior of the place, sprawling with eye catching deco and glass panels. Impeccable atmosphere for catch ups, meetings, dates, you name it.
Here’s what we ordered : Nasi Lemak w/ petai & sambal sotong : Nasi wasn’t very lemakly fragrant, but petai was abundant and the sambal sotong was at a good degree of chewiness and wasn’t fishy.
Empat Sekawan Chicken Chop : Creamy and savoury crispy chicken chop. Chicken was tender and flavourful. Served with a dollop of coleslaw.
Pineapple Mint Chicken Chop : Sharp sweet and subtle minty sauce on crispy chicken chop. Preferred our other flavour over this, since it was pretty sweet.
Yam and Fish Head Noodle : Stringy thick meehoon in a lightly flavoured broth. The fish meat was sweet and nice. Would have preferred if the flavour had more POP to it though.
Kwan Jiang : A little bit like Ipoh sengkuang, but we found that this had a little too much flour in its batter. It was a decent side snack.
All in all, the food was slightly above average for cafe standards, but not something that’ll make you shout “Omg I’m coming back tomorrow”. The mains were enough for us and the portions were generous, so we had to tapau the Kwan Jiang. Outdoor seating was empty since it was a hot sunny day, but it’d be a nice spot if the weather was right. Note that prices here are steeper by ± RM10-15 compared to their...
