So, we recently celebrated my mom's birthday at Empty Cup Coffee Roastery in Puchong. First impressions were great! The place is welcoming and clean, and the fact that it's on the first floor gives it a nice, slightly secluded vibe. We were a grouo of ten, and the biggest surprise was being given a private room – a really thoughtful touch! The staff were genuinely warm and greeted us all with smiles, which instantly set a positive tone.
The price range is pretty reasonable, around RM20-RM40 per person. We were very excited to dig in. However, here's where things got a little bumpy. Even though the restaurant wasn't packed, we waited over an hour for our food. My poor son was practically in tears from hunger!
Thankfully, when the food finally arrived, most of it was delicious. The spaghetti was wonderfully creamy, and the chicken burger was juicy and definitely not dry – a major win! The fish and chips were a hit with my son and dad. The "BIG Breakfast" was also good and tasty, although the inclusion of super dry corn was a bit odd. Unfortunately, the chicken chop was a major letdown – dry and the portion was ridiculously small compared to the other dishes.
Drinks were also a bit of a mixed bag. The simple Americano was not great, which is disappointing because that’s a coffee shop staple they really need to nail. The rest of the drinks were fine.
Overall, Empty Cup Coffee Roastery has potential. The service (aside from the wait time) was excellent, and the private room was a huge plus. Some of the food was really tasty, but the inconsistencies in quality and that very long wait time definitely need to be addressed. It's worth a try, especially for a small group, but maybe go when you're...
Read moreTLDR: Tried out this place due to the high rating, but left feeling that the place was utterly overrated.
Ambience - 2/5: Simple decoration, not really that comfortable if you wanna spend an afternoon here to enjoy a cuppa. Plus the open kitchen concept is a disaster, you'll end up smelling like bacon and cheese after 5 minutes in this place.
Food - 1/5: Ordered carbonara with bacon and the pork pizza. The carbonara tasted like heavy cream with half a cup of black pepper. I think those western cuisine stall at food courts serves better carbonara. As for the pizza, probably the worse I've ever tasted. Felt like what they did was to put some toppings on some ready made bread, (tried) to flatten it and heat it up inside the microwave. Terrible.
Coffee - 2/5: Had the iced dark mocha and tasted like slightly better version of Neslo to be honest. Then again I don't normally drink this so maybe their other coffee will taste better.
Price - 1/5: The meal described above cost me a total of RM52.80. I wouldn't pay more than RM30 for what I've just had. And that is being generous
Cakes - unknown as didn't try.
Service - 3/5: Service was pretty fast and seems courteous enough.
Overall 2/5: Perhaps it would be better if they just stick to coffee and cakes(assuming their cakes are good).
Would I come back? NO WAY until they've closed down the kitchen and renovated the place. After that perhaps I might consider dropping in for...
Read moreVery poor service. Ordered a granola and it tasted rancid after two bites. We informed the staffs about it and they took our granola away to their kitchen. At this point, there was no follow-up whatsoever from the staff. We waited quite a bit and took the initiative to ask the staff about our granola, they insisted it’s not rancid and asked if we would want a new bowl of granola from them. We declined the suggestion since they insisted it’s not rancid, hence we thought there’s no point in having another new bowl from them. The staff then agreed and walked away without saying anything. Since we didn’t opt for the new bowl of granola and our previous bowl was taken away after two bites, naturally we thought they would waive it from the receipt. But no, upon billing they said since we had ordered it we had to pay for it even though we only took two bites out of it. Had the staff told us that they’re gonna charge us regardless, we wouldn’t have refused the new bowl of granola isn’t it. We know it's only a mere rm17 but we felt that the staffs should have improved their communication skills with customers. Felt disappointed with the...
